The members are primarily Presbyterian, but all denominations are invited and encouraged to attend. Through our meetings we seek insight into our world problems, government affairs, and our indi- vidual lives. We realize that our lives as nurses can not be separated from our lives as Christians and that only through fellowship with God and each other can we become strong people and capable nurses. Recreation is enjoyed by all. Reading scriptures is part of the program. E WMA OR GANIZA T I O The members of the Newman Club of the Medical College of S. C. include students from the schools of Nursing, Medicine and Pharmacy as well as Oxygen ther- apy and X-Ray therapy. They meet twice a month for social and educational programs which foster stronger knowledge of their religion. Sharing meetings with those of other faiths has proven both enjoyable and worthwhile to all. Students study and discuss Medical Ethics X if F EA TURES 1 P a . N Ask not what life can give to you, What joy it holds ahead, But ask what special talents You can give to life instead. For loyal friends are only made By friendship that is true, As rich rewards can only come From what we are and do And mountain peaks are only reached By long and hard ascent, As happiness is only found By hearts that seek content. And so ask not what special gifts Life holds beyond its doors, But give each day your very best And life's best will soon be yours. In the preceeding pages of this book, we have tried to recapture the highlights of the period which have led to the student nurse donning the white cap of the professional nurse. We hope that these highlights that have been recaptured are the ones that you remember the most of this school year and are the ones that make you stop and say. . . This I remem- ber.
