Miss Ruth Chamberlin, a graduate of the Mt. Siani Hospital School of Nursing, received her B.S. and M.A. degrees inNursing Educa- tionand Administration from Teacher's College, C olu mbia University in New York City. Miss Chamberlin has s erv e d as Night Supervisor at Mt. Siani Hospital, Assistant Director of Nur sing at Rochester General Hospital and as Educational Director and Dir- ector of Nursing at the Syracuse University School of Nursing. In 1937 shewas appointed Education Dir ector of the Medical College of South Carolina School of Nursing and also was Director of Nursing at Roper Hospital. Du r ing World War II, she held the rank of Major in the Army Nurse Corps. Miss Cham- berlin is now Dean of the School of Nursing at the Medical College of South Carolina. After active participation in a number of committees, Miss Chamberlin became the first p r es id ent of the South Carolina State League for Nursing Education' and is a past president of the State Nurses' Association. She served as nurse representative for the State Nu r s e s' Association to the Executive Committee of The State Board of Health from 1949 to 1963. Miss Chamberlin is a member of Delta Kappa Gamma, honorary society for teachers, and appears in several Who's Who publi- cations including the first edition of Who's Who of American Women in 1958. She is a r' , 1.1. ..r ..,l 1 H. Rawling Pratt-Thomas, M.D. President of the Medical College of South Carolina Dr. Pratt-Thomas was born in Barnsley, England in 1913. He was reared in Sumter County, South Carolina and received his A.B. degree from Davidson College in 1934 and his M.D. degree from the Medical College of South Carolina in 1938. He receivedhis Internship and residency training at the Cincinnati Gen- eral Hospital. He is a member of the American Medical Association, C o ll e g e of American Pathol- ogists and American Association of Patholo- gists and Bacteriologists. He is a former chairman of Section of Pathology of the South- ern Medical Association. Dr. Pratt-Thomas is a Diplomate of the American Board of Pathology and is the con- sultant in pathology at the Charleston Naval Hospital. He has W r itten some thirty-five scientific article s and is a member of the National Honorary Scholastic Medical Society, Alpha Omega Alpha. He has served as Chair- man of the Department of Pathology and Dean of the School of Medicine at the Medical College of South Carolina. Miss Ruth Chamberlin, R.
