And in these stones we see a pattern of events beckoning us toward future accomplishments. Through the use of the theme Nursing an old Art . . . Ever-Changing . . . inaModern Era , the TRES ANN'lhas endeavored to connect the achieve- ments of our surroundings, both past and present, with current goals and our future am- bitions. Each building, each gateway, each lamp post has been presented to spur on a ful- fillment of the expectations demanded of us as a student body, as a senior class, and as an individual. Rightly so does each first cry of the newborn infant, each mourn of the troubled sufferer, each forlorn look of the mental patient, and each emotion felt over the loss of a loved patient bring to mind the pleasant experiences, the heartaches, and never-ceasing memories that have instilled in us the virtues of patience, understanding andforebearance. The TRES AN'Nl hopes that this yearbook, from time to time, will bring forth a flood of memories replacing doubt with certainty, despair with ambition, and sustaining in later years the plans of our youth. 2 a6f Q J SERVICES Y . During the years that lie ahead, our memories will often stray back to the MEDICAL COLLEGE School of Nursing and the wonderful days when we were a part of her busy curriculum and social life. It is then that we will remember so vividly those people who have influenced our lives with the strength, leadership, and understanding of their own lives. To you, DR. BOWE, we now dedicate this yearbook. Because of your quick-wit and ready smile, your genuine kindness and infinite patience, and your easy-going manner which somewhat belies an extremely quick andwide-ranging mind, you have shown us the beauty of acquiring intellect and have given us an appreciation of knowledge for its own sake, but most of all you have given us insight into and understanding of ourselves. 2. mznzsffabon anofgzaczz f X l f ' f I 3 VV,, X f f .... - f.,: 2 ,.-- :-,, fa X ff: 0 4, ,, sw SQ W :w i mx m 5 H Q Q ' ' 'V ' QW' N Q FFS wg V W Q 'H m m EMM we ' 3' 'W U ':- M '-4' it ' ' 4 -'- .'N'41:1 -lv 4'-fn 'IW--1 iw. ill- .:- ,z it-.ra 1. if il A gateway symbolizes the opening to many facets of life for those who have entered the field of nursing it represents away of life filledwith never ceasing opportunities Our faculty and famous Sword Gates, made 1n 1838 and installed in 1849, are observed and admired by local citizens and tourists alike as they enJoy the beauty of the many old homes and gardens in this part of Charleston administration seek to provide these opportunities by opening to us the gates of lcnowledgeu. In order to accommodate the increased flow of traffic which enters our city, a new span is to be added which will be built parallel her older sister. Just as Grace Memorial is soon to have her parallel so do our lives simulate with this bridge. There is acertain beauty in the steel structure of the geometric lines which form her spans even as there is acertain beauty in the Lines of a Pattern which form our lives. l l I i l I ..,P,,, -il Midst the lines in a pattern of a life, A girl crossed unawares a line and greeted with shy boldness and eager bewilderrnent A new pattern, strange, compelling, to be explored . . . experienced. - rr' A-f'-'f-'am La, r r 1 b1nd1ng 1n the antlclpauon of the Tomorrow. 1n unspoken hues called friendship. 75 iv 46 .J Q X .V , y 'L 38 , g wx' in 'WT - JV 1 j , ,l n 'Q ul in ,. That last minute rush to beat the deadline, the horror of discovering that the material is insufficient, and proofreading until both eyes look weary are just a part of what con- stitutes our newspaper. Regardless of the confusion involved, the staff members receive maximum satis- faction from gathering news of im- portance and interest to keep MCH students well-informed. saw 2 Z-1 Q 5 Best dancers of the night were Marty Rudd and t' , B111 Jones- .J ls: 1' ' . 22 1 W if , -F15 ,.
