N a - ' MM -W -A--W Y T- MISS RUTH CI-IAMBERLIN, R.N., B.S., M.A. Dean of the School of Nursing Professor of Nursing Miss Ruth Chamberlin, a graduate of the Mt. Siani Hospital School of Nursing, received her B. S. and M. A. degrees in Nursing Education and Administration from Teachers' College, Columbia University in New York City. Miss Chamberlin has served as Night Supervisor at Mt. Siani Hospital, Assistant Director of 'Nursing at Rochester General Hospital and as Educational Director and Director of Nursing at the Syracuse Uni- versity School of Nursing. In 1937 she was appointed Education Director of the Medical College of South Carolina School of Nursing and Director of Nursing at Roper Hospital. During World War II, she held the rank of Major in the Army Nurse Corps. Miss Chamberlin is now Dean of the School of Nursing, at the Medical College of South Carolina. Afterr active participation in a number of committees, Miss Chamberlin became the first president of the South Carolina State League for Nursing Education and is a past president of the State Nurses' Association. Since 1949, she has served on the Executive Committee of the South Carolina State Board of Health. i 4 Dr. Pratt-Thomas was born in Barnsley, England in 1913. He was reared in Sumter County, South Carolina and received his A.B. degree from Davidson College in 1934 and his M.D. degree from the Medical College of South Carolina in 1938. He received his internship and residency training at the Cincinnati General Hospital. He is a member of the American Medical Association, the College of American Pathologists and the American Association of Pathologists and Bacteriologists. He is a former chairman of the Section of Pathology ofthe Southern Medical Association. He is past presi- dent of the Charleston County Medical Society and the South Carolina Society of Pathologists. He is a Diplomat of the American Board of Pathology and is the consultant in pathology at the Charles- ton Naval Hospital. He has written some thirty-five scientific articles and is a member of the National Honorary Scholastic Medical Society, Alpha Omega Alpha. Dr. Pratt-Thomas was chairman of the Department of Pathology and Dean of the School of Medicine at the Medical College of South Carolina from 1960 until his election by the Board of Trustees to the Presidency of this institu- tion on February 4, 1962. 16 I 1 l i 1 V i 4 1 I I -m E V I r l l l Q l
