THE TRES ANNI MQHUCAL OF COLLEGE .iig ,SCNYTTIC14LU9LJTL4 SCHOOL OF NURSING 1963 9 2 Of? 60014 Enter to learn and leave to serve. ln presenting the 1963 Tres Anni we hope to show how we have gained in knowledge and statue as nurses, As we bring to end another year, we think of many past memories and many future plans, We, as nurses, have 'set our goals high and meet each new day withnhearts filled with courage and hope. An important part of our reward in nursing, as in life, is gained indirectly. The mature and unselfish nurse 'finds satisfaction in knowing that others receive comfortfrom her. In giving of ourselves through service and understanding, we are nurses . , , , all. t ,,,.w lLQ!:iI5'.Ji35FQfsL:gi.,-Qf.4ff - 9 E' 513' 12 'fri fsfii Ex? LA.. - - Hjfe ursen The world grows better, year by year Because some nurse in her little sphere Puts on her apron and grins and sings, And keeps on doing the same old things, Taking the temperatures, giving the pills, To remedy mankind 's numberless ills, Feeding the baby, answering the bells, Being polite with a heart that rebels. Longing for home, and all the while knowing the , importance of a happy smile. Blessing the newborn babies first breath Clothing the eyes that are still in death. Taking the blarneifor so many mistakes, Oh dear! What a lot of patience it takes. Going off duty at seven o'clock Tired, discouraged, and ready to drop, But called back on special at seven fifteen, With woe in her heart, but it must not be seen Morning and evening, and noon and night Just doing it over and hoping it's right When we lay down our caps and cross the bar, Oh Lord will you give us just one little star To wear in our crowns with our uniforms new In that city above, where the head nurse is you? Author Unknown i i ii.-M 'J ass jlgkfory In retrospect--to Contemplate What has happened as of.late,' The story of our class we'l1 write And we'll paint the future bright. But let's go back three years-ago-- Of nurses-to-be there were fifty-four. They were the class of '63, And shortly they will make history. Soon some of this class will graduate June 6, '63, to be the date. What did they do in those years between? The start of a new way of life was seen. Up with the sun each morning new, Of classes and labs there were quite a few. Capping at last--what a joy! Freshmen we were4-oh boy! Never had enough hours each day, But soon came summer with work--and play! In August we our stripes received, Vacations for some--such a reprieve. September to December, a Junior Slump . But classes did end--over the hump. With the year '62 special services came, ' The way was hard but we were game. The months were filled with many an event, And to these our school spirit we lent. Graduation--June '62, I From this event we took our cue For next year would be our tifrn, An opportunity not to spurn. Another summer--seniors at last As we reviewed the two years past. More work, and also' authority An ideal for more young nurses-to-be. Now at last the goal's in sight. Of graduation we dream at night. After three years we've learned our lesson, ---to maintain and elevate the standard of our profession From the Nightingale Pledge--we repeat the verses, For now we realize--we are nurses. As another class graduates, we think of the many past experiences we have shared, both together and separately. The TRES ANNI staff has tried to show a few of the joys, the tears, the dreams, and the daily life that we experience together during our three years here. We hope that this year's TRES ANNI will help to recapture and remind us of our days spent in training throughout our lives. I would like to express my deep appreciation to this year's staff for their willingness to give their time and energy, their patience, and their hard work. I would like to openly thank Becky Tompkins and Mrs. Sue Stramm for their part in putting out the TRES ANNI. It would take many pages to express my appreciation to all the people who have contrib- uted to this TRES ANNI but I would like to thank: Miss Grace Wooten - for your support and interest. i Mr. Lou Roempke - for your patience while taking pictures. Mrs. Harris at Kerrison's - for your cooperation while taking pictures. Mr. Walter Kahrs - for your suggestions and understanding while taking our pictures. We, the staff, present the 1963 TRES ANNI with pride, and satisfaction, and with the hopes that it will mean something special to each and everyone of us.
