MISS RUTH CHAMBERLIN, RN, B.S., M.A. Dean of School of Nursing Professor of Nursing Miss Chamberlin was graduated from the Mt. Sinai Hospital School of Nursing in New York City. She re- ceived her B.S. and M.A. degrees in Nursing Education and Administration from Teacheris College, Columbia University in New York City. She has served as Night Supervisor at Mt. Sinai Hos- pital, Assistant Director of Nursing at Rochester General Hospital, and Educational Director and Director of Nursing at the Syracuse University School of Nursing. Miss Chamberlin has served as Educational Director of the School of Nursing of the Medical College, Director of Nursing at Roper Hospital and now devotes full time as Dean of School of Nursing and Professor of Nursing of the Medical College of South Carolina. During World War II she had leave of absence when she held the rank of Major in the Army Nurse Corps as chief nurse of Mt. Sinai Hospital Unit. In organizational work following active participation on many committees Miss Chamberlin became first pres- ident of the S. C. State League for Nursingg is past president of the State Nurses' Association and has been the nurse representative to the Executive Committee of the South Carolina State Board of Health since 1949. In 1958 Miss Chamberlin was made a member of the Delta Kappa Camma, honorary sorority for teachers. She was also included in the first edition of 'WVho,s WVho of American Women. KENNETH M. LYNCH, M.D., D.Sc., LL.D. President and Dean of the Faculty Medical College of South Carolina Dr. Lynch received his M.D. degree from the Uni- versity of Texas, and is the recipient of the honorary LL.D. degree from both the University- of South Caro- lina and the College of Charleston, as well as the hon- orary D.Sc. degree from Clemson College. He secured his residency training in pathology at the Philadelphia General Hospital, and was instructor in pathology at the University of Pennsylvania before com- ing here as professor of pathology in 1913. He was appointed Vice-Dean at the Medical College in 1935, Dean in 1944, and President and Dean of the Faculty in 1949. Among his many honors are the Gold Medal of the American Medical Association for scientific research, 1921, the Research Medal of the Southern Medical As- sociation, 1921, as well as First Award in scientific ex- hibits, 1920, the Distinguished Service Award, 1957, and the Distinguished Service Citation and Med-al, American Cancer Society, 1958. He is the author of two medical science books, as well as collaborator in others, and has published one hundred scientific papers in medical periodicals and served on the editorial boards of three national medical journals. At the present time he is a member of two national research grant boards, having to do with the allocation of large funds in scientific and medical research. He is a member of many national medical and scientif- ic societies and has served as president of several national organizations, as well as chairman of numerous sections and committees.
