With respect and affection we dedicate this book to Evelyn Ed Miller, Evelyn Ed Miller M.D. Following graduation from Missouri Valley College, she worked for the local newspapers in her home town of Malta Bend, Missouri. However, she tired of asking people personal questions, and decided to go into medi- cine! She graduated from Woman ' s Medical College and interned at Women ' s Hospital. During her training at Vineland Home for Mentally Retarded Children, St. Christopher ' s Hospital and Children ' s Hospital of Philadelphia, she acquired her keen judgment of normal mental and physi- cal development of children. She has been active on the staffs of Women ' s Hospital, St. Christo- pher ' s Hospital and Woman ' s Medical College Hospital, and has taught at the Graduate School of Medicine of the University of Pennsylvania. In 1948, Dr. Miller was certified by the American Board of Pediatrics. In 1954, she was appointed to the faculty of Woman ' s Medical College. Dur- ing the past two years she has headed the Committee in Charge of the Pediatric Department at Woman ' s Medical College Hospital. In this difficult position, she has given unstintingly of her time and effort, sacri- ficing her personal life and private practice to organize a dynamic teach- ing program for both residents and students. For her warm friendship, for her skill as a teacher, for her sincere interest in the welfare of Woman ' s Medical College students, we are proud and pleased to dedicate this yearbook to Dr. Evelyn Ed Miller.
