ORANGE AND BLACK I-HGH SCHOOL GRCI-IESTRA Aside from the regular prescril ed Course of Study there are three hranches which seem essential for making school life all rhar it should le namely Arla letics Rhetoricals and Music Last year our first High School Orchestra was organized under the leadership of one of the Faculty Mr Maurice E Pettit The Orchestra did credit to itself and to the school at the Senior Class Play and the Commencement Exercises le sides winning the applause of th students several times in chapel exercises The spirit and zeal which Mr Pettit worked up has laid the foundation upon which the Orchestra hegan hullding this year When school started again affairs were in a gloomy state for the preservation of rhe good work accomplished the year hefore Wheia the meeting was called for organization the following was tae situation which existed There was no member of the Faculty to act as director only three remained from the Orchestra of last year there were no hnan es nor were there any drums In lieu of a Faculty memher to act as dlrector Morrell Seeds of the Class OFIQI7 Lloyd Kelly liherally offered us the use of his drums until we ohtalned finances with which to purchase our ow n which offer was gratefully accepted In spite of the many difficulties the Orchestra has appeared in chapel and a few weeks later at the Athletic Association play and hox supper where the following musical prelude was rendered Blue Bell Medley Overature Arranged ly W Chattaway Qupids Call Walt?
