Such things are characteristic of your industrious yearbook staff which is combining its talents to produce the best book possible. True, during these sessions there is lots ofnoise and plenty of scurrying around, but when we get down to work, everyone does his very best. The success of our efforts can only be judged by you, the reader, as you look through your MEDIAN. We are all very grateful to our friend and teacher G R Davis for his help and guidance If it had not been for his encouragement and faith in us this our yearbook would not have been possible. The characters were very well cast. The cast skillfully held an air of mystery which prevailed throughout the entire play. It was not until the final minutes of the play did one discover who the murderer was. No one will ever forget the many weird, strange situa- tions and personalities brought out in this won- derful play written by James Reach. Since the intricate, difficult scenes and stage directions could not have been followed without expert help, the Senior Class would like to thank Jane Glackin, Student Director, and Mr. Simon, faculty advisor for their much-needed help and thoughtful understanding. Sauder From the opening gun on September 19 till all was quiet on November 26, coaches Red Gotwals and George Loper pushed and pulled the Mustangs along. From school dismissal till dark- ness our boys worked hard, with tasks ranging from running a starting mile, lasting through calisthenics, and then finally into the heart of practice. Though most of the game hours were dark for Media, there occasionally were some which were bright as was displayed when Media thoroughly trounced the Bulldogs of Nether Providence 37-0. The spirited Mustangs did not stop here, but kept on fighting right up to the final whistle of the Chester game, where even though the final score was in favor of Chester, the Medes thrilled and chilled the many spectators. May we give thanks to all the boys and to two of the best coaches in Delaware County for the fine and efficient job that they fulfilled in this our 1955 season. :XJ FOOTBALL George Loper Harold Gotwals Frank Brown Edward Utz Gus Anderson gui' WASP .kung 5:2 - , 215' 4 -' . ,-4 u,,. Although there were a few rainy Saturdays, the Band did its best to carry on in fine tradition. An added spark was noticed in our band this year: white bucks and band shirts were worn. The Band's theme in the Chester game this year was American Dances. We wish to express our thanks to this wonderful organization. COLOR GUARD We wish to thank our color guard for bearing our school colors and spear-heading all parades, band concerts, and football games. Twelve of the fourteen members had previously served for two consecutive terms, thus contributing to the best color guard we have had for several years. Under the captaincy of Millie Jeffries, assisted by her lieutenant,Susie Getz, those snappy routines were drilled to perfection. M. Jeffries - Capt. f iw' J. Boeshore K Sanford S. McClure J. Allen C. For each game, a member of the J .V. squad was selected to cheer, mak- ing the squad an even ten. No one will forget the spirited job done by the cheerleaders during the halves . They and Mr. Charles worked very hard to produce one of the best performances ever seen during half time at the Thanksgiving game. CHEERLEADERS 'N-.... These representatives work together for better re- lationships between teachers and pupils, and they govern and support student activities. They also strive for more successful school-com- munity relations. In September the Student Council began its work with determination to make this year enjoyable and profitable for all students. Its first project was a very successful prom which was called The Harvest Moon Ball. The Council's helpfulness was recognized through the sponsoring of the Welfare Fund and its contributions to the Exchange Student Program. The Council's outstanding co-operation with the students was evident in its panel assembly when students could present their problems before the Council for possible solutions. The annual Student Day, Easter Movie, and Clean-Up Campaign were also part of the work and fun for the Council. The students and teachers encouraged the Council with their en- thusiasm and sincere appreciation. Front Row: M. Miles, J. White, B. Bromely, B. Baine, K. Ringbloom, G. Craig, B. Pedrick, A. Farley, Miss Nichols, Adviser DEBA TING TEAM The Honor Society is a nation-wide organization of high school honor students who are chosen not only for their scholastic ability, but also for their accomplishments in three other fields - service, character, and leadership. The Honor Society is nota bunch of bookworms, but a group of stu- dents who find pleasure in sports, service, and studyg and develop the other two ileadership and characterl through these lanes. These students can usually be found to be the nucleus of activities: sports, plays, Spring Festival, de- bating, and Hi-Q. In addition, when there is work to be done, these people can be found doing it. It should be the goal of every student to belong to this organization. When the members of the Honor Society graduate, they will be re- membered not only as outstanding students, but as a group of athletes, hard workers, and first-rate per- sonalities. The members of the debating team may not receive the thrills of football or hockey, but they exper- ience a wonderful satisfaction in their participation. Although debating is a lot of work and requires extra hard studying to equal the arguing power of strong competitors , it can be fun and profit- able too. This is especially true for those students who are planning to attend college. Debating may be compared to a Court Room with the affirmative side being Council for Defense and the negative side acting as the Prosecution. The debating team this year was coached by Miss Nichols. Debates were held with Marple-Newtown and Pennsylvania Military College. The topic in debate was Resolved: That governmental subsidies should be granted according to need to high school graduates who qualify for ad- ditional training.
