I0 YEARS OUR PRI CIP L when asked what he Tiked most about his years at Mid High , our retiring principai Cretiring at the end of first semester of the 1977-78 schooT yearj repiied HI, of course, Tike working with peopie, but seeing kids who have gone into Tife and achieved gives me a good feeTing.H He feeis that the most important part of his job is the deveiopment of staff. This inciudes not onTy hiring capabie teachers, but teachers who care about and understand students. Our principai first came to Medford after four years of Professionai Basebaii. The picture to the Teft was taken about 1940. Then he went into the service for three years after which he came back to Medford. He taught Sociai Studies at the oid Senior High School, and then became theDean. He was Dean for fifteen years untiT the oTd Senior High became the new Mid High. Mr. McDonaTd became principai in a very unique situation - a new schooi but an oid buiTding! Mr. McDonaTd has been the onTy principai Mid High has ever had. At the end of the interview Mr. McDonaTd commented that he was Hoptimistic, because I see a Tot of good things from the younger generation.H For the future he has pianned to travei.
