Gen, Metals I Bob Wilson carefully checks a circuit during electronics laboratory. Technical Arts education helps students develop an interest in technical work and skill in the use of the materials and tools. The courses offered are: Electronics, taught by Mr, Keith Bayne, department chairman, Metal Lab, taught by Mr. Bayne and Mr. Don Keenang Wood Lab, taught by Mr, Lloyd Wells and Mr. Steven Headyg Graphic Arts, taught by Mr. Keenan, Drafting, taught by Mr. Headyg and In- ternal Combustion Power Lab, formerly taught by Mr, Vern Peterson. In electronics, students learn the basic fundamentals of electricity and learn about such things as electrical circuitry and construction of electronic projects. Metal lab consists of a series of projects involving such things as sheet metal, foundry, and the use of tools and ma- chines. Wood lab is concerned with basic wood- working technology and the use, care, and safety of hand tools, and some common ma- chines. Students enrolled in graphic arts study the mechanics of printing, composition, and publishing. Courses in drafting cover such things as line techniques, and use of drafting equipment, and are designed to present basic drafting techniques. Internal combustion power lab courses help students explore the basic principles, function, operation, and care of small internal combustion engines. The course was temporarily discontinued at Mid High be- cause the instructor, Mr. Vern Peterson, was drafted. 29
