Physical Education for freshmen and sophomores is a continuation of Junior High developments with the activities being more strenuous and more difficult, 1,,1 Drivers' Training is an elective that may be taken by sophomores for 6 weeks of the second semester course. Some activities the girls have had this year include swimming, tennis, field Vllll V,...V, N hockey, tumbling, volleyball, gymnastics, rhythms, basketball, trampoline, soft- , ball, and track. The boys have participated this year in swimming, football, Yl, ig ,,,i lf 'f ' 7 Wrestling, volleyball, gymnastics, rhythms, basketball, trampoline, softball, and , 5 track. Vn' 5 A series of tests were given to the boys' Physical Education classes this year to r classify boys according to their strength and endurance. Mr. Carroll Graber Mrs. Marta Hill Vocal Music, Choir 7X8 Choir 5X6 Selected members from Bye Bye Birdie seranade Mr. M b f ' ' em ers 0 Sophomore Choir practice for the MCRSYUOMS as he Prepares to leave for the AFTHY- Christmas Program. Keeping his eyes on a difficult piece of music ' Terry Stienmetz strives to improve his tech- ' I S nique during band practice. The Instrumental and Vocal Music Departments put in a long but rewarding year, Mr. Carroll Graber and Mrs, Marta Hill said that the sophomore and freshman choirs have taken part in such events as, Bye Bye Birdie, the 1969 operetta, a Christmas Concert, singing for the Crater Lions, Good Friday Services, and two broadcasts during the Christmas season over KMED. The Varsity Band, Junior Varsity Bands and their advisor, Mr, Robert Bork, performed in a Pops Con- cert. The Varsity band took part in Bandorama, the Pear Blossom and Veterans' Day Parade, a band contest, football and basketball games and a City Band Festival. The Orchestra and its director, Mr. John Drysdale, took part in the Winter Pops Concert, sent three of its members to the Solo and En- semble Contest, and staged a few trial concerts for grade schools. They also took part in a City Band Festival. There were also other outside-class groups, such as Madrigals and Stage Band.
