H was W Mrs. Edith Wempen, Sophomore Girls. Counselors Mrs, Dora Scheidecker, Freshman Girls. Mr. John Kovenz, Freshman Boys. Counselors at Mid High have a variety of tasks to perform throughout the year. They are kept busy with the trials and tri- bulations of the students from September to June. Their major task is to help the students in their personal and social adjustments. The counselors are continuously counseling and working on the students' educational and occupational planning. Both freshman and sophomore counselors Work on the students' schedules to ready the schedules for the final processing by the IBM computer, They try to meet with all the students to discuss their results on the Iwoa, Kuder and other tests. Group counseling is another service offered in the counseling center. The counselors meet with six to eight students to talk about anything the students Want to talk about. They occasionally visit the homerooms to present programs about counseling center and registration for classes. The counselors often meet with the parents and teachers of stu- dents to discuss the students' problems. Mr, Patrick Clement, Sophomore Boys

Mrs Alice Kovenz Dean of Girls Deans I like this age of kids in spite of the fact that they frustrate me, says Mr. Jerry McDougall dean of boys. Mr. McDougall majored in speech in college. He gained experience in acting at the Oregon Shakespearean Festival and at a radio station. Mr. McDougall's jobs include: Heading the guidance departmentg being responsible for the Welfare of the boysg taking care of public re- lations with both parents and various agencies' performing counseling activities particularly in the form of attendance, conduct and productiong as- sisting in curriculum development and schedulingg and performing administrative responsibilities Mr. McDougall thinks that the hardest part of his job is When he Works With a student for a long period of time and then the student lets him down Mr McDougall was the advisor of the Medford Student Union, a boys' service club that was newly formed this last year, ,MW f f Mrs Alice Kovenz Dean of Girls feels that the Medford Mid High School girls ' are gi eat Mis Kovenz graduated fi om Linfield College and did graduate Work at the Southern O1GgOI1 College and the University of Oregon She worked with the general education social adjustment attendance and the general Welfare of the girls and Worked to have the parents and teach ers help the students in these areas She also helped with Job placements and iecommendations for Jobs and was thc advisor of the Girls' Service Club According to Mrs Kovenz one of the hardest parts of her Job was finding a girl with an intense dislike for school and not being able to help her ovei come it Due to illness Mis Kovenz was out of school for a While and at the end of the year was still only Working half days Any student who wanted to see the deans through out the year could get an appointment Mr, Jerry McDougall Dean of Boys

E il, 11551 .,'i ,Sf Florence Francis Jan Fernland Christina Garman Charlotte Orr Mrs, Mickey Jones Mrs, Beverly Kalams June Metzger Mrs, Majorie Moore Mrs. Marie Shafer Mrs. Virginia Thelin lassified Personnel The office at Mid High is a busy place, Secretarial Work is efficiently accomplished by Mrs. Marie Shafer, Mrs. Beverly Kalams, Mrs. June Metzer, Mrs. Mickey Jones, Mrs, Marge Johanson, Mrs. Beverly Stachom, and Mrs. Virginia Thelin. Paperwork such as Writing out daily announcements, keeping attendance re cords, and handling student schedules are performed by these ladies. They also do various jobs such as making appointments and typing for Mr. McDonald and Mr, Kautz. Mrs. Eleanor Piche, who was a teachers' aide earlier in the year is now the records clerk. Taking roll in homeroom, typing tests, and duplicating papers are jobs performed by Mrs. Bonnie Morris, Mrs. Margaret Simmons, Mrs. Dickie Wright, and Miss Debbie Clark, who are teachers' aides. Mrs. Wright also does art Work for the teachers. Also on the clerical staff is Mrs. Marjorie Johanson who is the bookkeeper at Mid High. Mrs. Johanson Works in the activity office. She handles all the money that is received from the students for various activities conducted on the Mid High campus. Attendance records are kept by Mrs. Beverly Kalams, the attendance clerk. The book clerk at Mid High is Mrs. June Metzer, Mrs. Helen Crumpton is the nurse at Mid High. ! Jim Herman wonders which
