Level of Medford District board years affairs mlttees School Oregon Frank Bash has always taken an interest in school He has served on local and state education com- and has been chairman of the Medford school At present he is vace presldent of the Oregon Boards Association and on the Board of the School Study Council Mr Bash has given many of distinguished service to the schools of both Medford and Oregon He is associated with Pacific Power and Light Company MR. FRANK BASH Dr. Boals is the new addition to the Medford School District Board of Education. He brings to the school board his prior experience in a similar public service at a suburban Portland school district. An anesthesiolo- gist, Dr. Boals is a well-informed and keenly interested member of the School Board. un-l E MR. WILSON SLATER DAVID C. BOALS, M.D. Mr. Wilson Slater, clerk of the board, is financial director of the school district and is in charge of the budget. He takes minutes of the meetings and disburses funds of the district. 9

Complex School District Mr. Lee Ragsdale is Director of Phys- ical Education, Health, Recreation and Safety for the Medford Public Schools. He is responsible for all educational pro- grams relating to health and physical education. His introduction of such sports as bowling, archery, and swimming to the high school program has added to The success of the physical education pro- gram..Mr. Ragsdale is also credited with numerous innovations in his depart- ment including physical development tests administered throughout the district. MR. l. A. MIRICK Mr. Lindsay Vinsel directs the Adult and Vocational Education Program, and is in charge of arranging schedules and staffing the adult courses with instruct- ors. The program includes business edu- cation, general classes, homemaking classes, college extension classes, trade preparatory classes, auto mechanics, and many hobby craft classes. Mr. Vinsel also directs the Southern Oregon Practical Nursing School, which is a ioint project of the school district with the Rogue Valley Memorial Hos- pital. MR. LEE RAGSDALE Mr. Mirick, instrumental music supervisor of the Medford School District, strives to increase the excellence of the band and orchestra pro- grams of the schools. He also directs the Med- ford High School Band. Year after year his leadership and guidance has made the band more skilled and increasingly popular. Mr. Mirick's personal interest in each individual has combined with his infectious and pleasing per- sonality To make the total Medford instrumental program an outstanding one. MR. LINDSAY VINSEL
