Spelling and vocabulary are a very important part of the English course ol study at Medford Senior High. An un- abridged dictionary contains 600.000 words and the aver- age hiqh school graduate lcnows between 3,000 and 5,000 ol them. At Medford High, academic students have the opportunity to learn l0,200 words in their iunior year alone and 25,000 words by the time they graduate. Words most often misspelled are short, common ones like too, its, or believe Charivari is less often mis- spelled than these short words.
