HEDRICK Superintendent of Schools lly a large majority. the voters of Medford approved the plans of Superintendent li. H. Hedrick and the School Board for repair, renovations :nd additions to all school huildings of the City. A lmond issue was passed to provide the funds. .-Ns a part of the large school building program authorized for the City. some much needed improvements and additions will he made to the Senior High School. Included in this is a wing containing a cafeteria and kitchen unit with four additional class rooms. The new section will he iminediately east of the auditorium: the cafe and kitchen will he on the ground floor and the class rooms ahove. The cafeteria will meet a long' felt need and will he of great help in relieving the serious conjestion that exists at present in the home making rooms. The cafeteria is lmeing planned to serve also as a study hall during class periods. thus giving the space full time oc- cnpancy. One of the new class rooms will he occupied hy vocal music. thus separating' it from the present interference of instrumental music and placing' it closer to the auditorium. Another major improvement will he the Construction of a new covered ggrandstand with a seating capacity of l,500, to he located on the east side of the footlmall field. l:orUs... primarily for the students and the hand and secondarily for the accommo- dation of the general puhlic that heretofore has overflowed the old grand- stand during' the footlmall seasons. ln addition the administration plans to renovate the entire inside of the huilding. There will he painting, replastering, and other minor repairs. ln each classroom that at the present time has low lighting, new lights will he added. There are to he electric outlets in every room for the purpose of visual aids in education. All rooms may have venetian hlinds. The hoard fence around the foothall field will he removed and replaced hy a chain-link wire fence on metal posts. VVith these many improvements we hold a hright outlook toward the future of Medford High School. although with scarcity of lahor and materials the Board of lfducation can make no statement concerning' the definite date of construction. 'I'he success of this issue was largely due to the careful planning and con- sideration of the School Board and Mr. Hedrick. Those on the Board of liducation are john l'.
