LORRAINE PERSGARD JAC KIRTLEY J C TUCKER AL KIRCHER LEE JOHNSON AL BOUCHER VICE PRESIDENT SECRETARY TREASURER lIlllSS lll l94B BOB WATSON PRESIDENT Although looknng forward to benng upper classmen next year the class of 46 can afford to be proud of a hlghly successful junuor year dur :ng which members fully proved their abjluty to produce leaders IH the social and sports flelds ln the fall the Junior Class met and elected officers for the year As a result of the electron Bot Watson was chosen president Alan Karcher vnce presldent Lee Johnson secretary Al Boucher treasurer and Lorraine Persgard class representatlve This group consisting largely of the less g ntle sex was responsuble for the meetungs and actuvutnes nn which the class partncupated Concesslons at the games are tradutjonally handled by the Junlor Class and It was through this means that the group was able to pay ex penses occurrlng during the year Members of the concessrons commnttee could be seen at all the games lndustrlously selling their cokes peanuts and hotdogs to grateful audiences Two booths were maintained to handle the business which necessitated a large numb r of salesmen Paulune Kruggel Shlrl y Schnelder Carol Skeen Jackle Nelson Peggy Childers Sybul Hagen Vlrglnla Allen Lols Bryant Elalne Hoffman Jeral dyn Jerome Harruet Houghton D ah Jean Rose and Carol Johnson Another traclltlon to which the juniors fell helr was the Junlor Sensor Prom given In the early sprung In honor of th seniors The dance IS always an eagerly antlcupated affalr and thus year s Prom proved to be no exception G neral chairman for the dance was Jerry Llebman who designed and dl rected the construction The theme was kept secret until the nnght of thc dan e and the juniors jealously guarded the doors of the boys gymnasuum to prevent any hunt of the theme from belng disclosed Members of the Class of 46 were represented I0 all clubs of the s hool Torch Honor had an unusually large number of juniors as dld many other organizations The mlddles were apparently honor mrnded thus year with more memb rs makung the honor roll than those of any other class Jerry Luebman and Bull Tams were Included nn the lust of stu dent leaders and fnlled the posts of Crater edltor and Tiger Rajah respec tlvely these posltlons are usually clalmed by sensors Then too many club officers were Junior Class members Betty Lou Baker was president of Gnrls League Barbara M adows fnlled the presidency of La Tertulna and Shnrley DeMoss headed the Home Economics Club Actnng as advusers to the class were Mass Jac Knrtley and Mr J C Tucker both of whom stressed class partlclpatuon un all functnons also they were larg ly responslble for the ever present class loyalty II C l E . HARRIET WALKER JACKIE KIRTLEY KEITH NEWTON DAVID DOW, PRESIDENT The class of 47 was one of the largest ever to enter Medford Sensor Hugh and according to the other classes the lucknest pnncupally because sophomore IHITIOTIOH was banned thus year Already the class has made many Important contributions to school lIfe and actlvutIes Leaders who worked hard toward achIevIng the excellent organIzatIon of the Sophomore Class were Davld Dow presIdent NIck Greene vice president Harruet Walker secretary Jackle Klrtley treasurer and Keith Newton class repre sentatIve However large the class has been able to Include most of nts members on nts comrmttees and OCTIVITIGS Sophomores entered most of the school s clubs Includnng members In such groups as the Drama Club Hu Tnmes Crater Torch Honor Band choruses Drum Corps Orchestra and the Debate and Radno teams In fact, sophomores domInated the Debate Squad as well as havIng a large representation In the other clubs Among the many parties sponsored by the sophs was an old tlme square dance on January 24 which showed that Medford hIgh can out dance any of Its country couslns Mr KIrtleys and MIss Wall s physlcal educa tion classes were used to teach sophomore boys and gIrls the square and folk dances The affair was attended by practically all the sophomores and gave a chance for some extra fancy dancing The sophomore basketball team showed much promise for a good fu wrestling and football teams Many of the boys saw action on the football field on either the second or third squads Also durIng the football season sophomores sold game programs In order to earn money for the class treas ury They ded so well that they were able to turn thus means of ralslng money over to the Boys League and other organizations during the later games Sophomores entered the Norse Parade and won second place In the noise duvIsIon TheIr float was covered with all the types of noIse whIch could possIbly be piled on Sophomore enthusIasm really reached a new hugh Asude from the Interest of th class In th se afore mentioned fuelds he class has been active In all other events of the school Mrs Gladys Herron and Mr Ed Klrtley class advisers have help d with the group and thenr generous and GTTECTIVG guIdance has been appreciated by the whole class Und r their dIrectIon the sophomores have easIly become adjusted to llfe at SenIor Hugh School Class ul l94l NICK GREEN, VICE PRESIDENT GLADYS HERRON, AnvIsEn ED KIRTLEY, ADVISER 1 l , . .
