The Cardinals racked up 21 first half points while holding the Bison scoreless for 3 quarters. Then the defense had to fight for their lives as the Bison staged a fourth quarter comeback only to fall short by a touchdown. After a 1st half that seemed, to the average fan. that the Cardinals were trying to give the game away with mistakes and penalties, they pulled themselves together in the 2nd half to post their second victory of the season over the Mooreland Bearcats by a score of 10 to 8. In a hard fought defensive battle, the Ordinals lost their first game of the season to the Shidler Tigep 6 to 0 in 2 overtimes. The Tigers got the ball first at the 10 yard line and were thrown back 7 yards in their 4 plays. The Cardinals decided to go for the field goal The snap from center was fumbled, sending the game into the second overtime. On 4th and 4. Jackson went over the left side of the line for the Tiger TD Ordinals Drop Second On The Road in the first district game of the season, the Ordinals came out on the short end of a 7 to 6 score. In the 1st half, facing a 4th and 9.Jantzcn’s attempt at a field goal narrowly missed, ending any scoring threat by either team in the first half. Each team scored once in the second half but the cards missed their extra point. The Fighting Ordinals improved their season record to 3-2 and evened their district record at 1-1 with a 13 to 8 Homecoming victory over the Cherokee Chiefs. Medford took over at their own 34 yard line and moved the ball 73 yards in 7 plays for the 1st points of the night, when QB Mark Bliss completed a pass to Donnie Bowman who raced 44 yards down the side line for the TD. On 4th down and goal, Scott Williams went over the left side of the line for 6 points. QB Barry Roberts then hit WB Damon Hawkins for the 2 point conversion pass giving Cherokee an 8 to 7 halftime lead. The Medford offensive unit then put it together With the line, made up of Bowman, Harper, Smetana, Blubaugh, Peacock, Moore, and Schmitz, immobilizing the Cherokee defense and Magnus and O’Hair leading the way. Brad Cink and Mark Bliss alternated carrying the ball to go 78 yards in 10 plays for the go-ahead TD The pass for extra point was knocked down, making the final score Medford 13, Cherokee 7. • Cards Out For District Title — DCLA Takes Crown In a game marred by bobbled Kails and several extremely controversial calls by the officials, the Medford Cardinals lost a heartbreaker to district foe. Pioneer, by the score of 13 to 12. Bliss tossed 23 yards to Donnie Bowman for the score. Jantzen’s kick was wide to the right, giving the Cards a 6-0 lead with less than 2 minutes gone in the game Facing 1st and 23, a pitch from Bliss to Postlewaitc was bobbled and Datson of the Mustangs picked it up to race 60 yard' untouched for the tying score Randy Harper got a hand on the kick for EP, allowing the score to remain tied. The Cardinals second score came when Brad Cink iarrcd the ball loose from the Mustang ballcarrier at the 2 yard line and Don Gibson picked it up and ran to the endzone for the 6 pointer Four intercepted passes and a costly fumble proved to be too much to overcome as the Ordinals fell to the district leading DCLA Eagles 14 toO. Three pass interceptions and 2 lost fumbles were too much to overcome as the Fighting Ordinals were defeated 14 to 3 by the pre-season district favorites. Pond Creek-Hunter Panthers. With the victory the Panthers kept their hopes alive of making the play-offs as district runner-up. The Ordinals put their only points on the board with a 32 yard field goal by Jantzen as the half ended - - PH 23 3j Row 1. Alen Misak. I f nic Winter. Robby Aba. We held many expec- tations about this past year, many of which came true. As w ? look back on this past year, we treasure the moments that we know can never be held again. There- fore we have tried our best to recapture as many of the events of the school year as we could so that you could relive all those memorable experiences again through picture and word as the years pass and memories fade. This past year, our senior year, will probably be remembered as the highlight of our thirteen years of school. We will always remember the hopes and dreams that ran through our minds in these past years. We will not forget our years in Medford High School, but we cannot dwell on them. We must look forward to the future so that we might use the knowledge we obtained in school. Again we’d like to say we hope we have recaptured as many events as possible and that you will hold these memories dear to you.
