OCTOBER: The Medford Hi(th School football learn defeated Cherokee in the Medford Homecoming game Other Homecoming events included a parade at 3:00 p.m on Friday afternoon and an alumni banquet on Saturday evening Around 260 former grads and friends attended the Home- coming Oklahoman. Carl Albert, retired at the age of 68 as speaker of the United States House of Representatives. After much to-do. the Swine flu shots became a reality across the nation The shots could be obtained free of charge and it was believed that most people would have no side effects The shots were administered on Wednesday Octo- ber 27 in Medford NOVEMBER Harrs Smetana defeated Donald Dobbs for Sheriff by a vote of 2.199 to 1.234 In our county, as well as in the entire nation, the people voted in the Presiden- tial election Jimmy Carter defeated fierald Ford, who was running for his second term in office The American History class conducted a poll concerning the presidential elec- tum Of the 722 people contacted. 319 or 44'f favored Carter; 261 or 36 fa- vored Ford. 47 or 13 were undecided. The Senior play. Quit Your Kid- ding . was performed on November 16. In the world of sports, the Big 8 had a three way tie for first place in the con- ference OUI. OSU. and Colorado shared in the championship DECEMBER The combined choruses of the Med- ford School sang at the Christmas pro- gram which was entitled “The Message of the Christmas Angels”. Some avid OL football fans from Medford made the trip to Arizona and the Fiesta Bowl to watch the Oklahoma Sooners bury Wyoming 49-7. The Oklahoma State Cowboys record- ed a sweet victory in the Tangerine Bowl over BYU. 42-3 Tony Dorset! of Pittsburgh was the COUNTRY —INN — iRestaurantfe winner of the Heisman Trophy He was able to set many new records in his ca- reer at Pitt The New Country Inn Restaurant gave Medford a great place to cat and hold banquets or meetings The restau- rant is a joint venture of the Pub fam- ilies and some Medford Business men.
