One of the most active organizations of Med- ford High School is the Student Council, composed of representatives elected annually from the six grades. The Student Council is responsible for determining the sentiments of the student body concerning important school issues and for com- municating such sentiments to the council. 6 SCHOOL POLICY BOARD OF EDUCATION President................Don Melka Vice President.........Joe Kretchmar Clerk....................Jan Keller MEMBERS Marvin Green Henry Kretchmar Ed Clarke 7 SUPERINTENDENT’S MESSAGE Each school year contains many experiences that are pleasant along with some trials and disappointments. This is true throughout our life. Metal cannot be tempered without heat and young people cannot grow to maturity without obstacles to overcome. History is filled with stories of men and women who mastered adversity on their road to greatness and immortality. It is my sincere wish that all students of our school system will gain in stature and maturity through ex- periences of this school year. Let us proceed with the realization that a bright future looms ahead for those who are willing to discipline themselves and overcome ob- stacles placed in their path. Never, in the history of man, has there been a more exciting period in which to live and labor. May Medford school continue to provide stimulating and effective preparation for life in the changing and exciting world of tomorrow. Sincerely, PRINCIPAL’S MESSAGE It is a pleasure to be associated with the student body of Medford Public School. In the youth of our land we find the most promising and lasting natural resource, intelligence. This, coupled with our faith in God and confidence in each other, will be our most outstanding asset as we take our place in the world. May I encourage each of you to make the best of your school days. It is our sincere desire to make your attendance in the Medford School as profitable and as enjoyable as we can. Los Conquistadores, alias the Conquerors, have spent their last year at trying to conquer Spanish. The Spanish Club has many activities during the year--a Christmas caroling party, after which we had the breaking of the tradi- tional Spanish Pinata, a dinner at the end of the year honoring the Seniors, and a trip to the state fiesta at Norman. Our officers for the year are Judy Jones, President; Jane Eulberg, Vice- President; Tomi Sawyer, Secretary-Treasurer; and Brenda Krittenbrink, Reporter. 42 This page compliments of HUB FOOD FUTURE TEACHERS FRONT ROW, Left to Right: Darla Fore, Jim Neuman, Karen Wilson, Fred Gibson, Patt Cummins, Dale Ross. The initial purpose of the Future Teachers of America Organization is to help initiate an interest in teaching. The organization strives to interest its members and to help them explore the teaching field as a profession. One of the main money-making projects of the F.T.A. is the coat check stand at the basketball games. 43 FHA Lerha Pitcher, President Marilyn Hula, Vice-President Judy Schuneman, Secretary Oma Lee Pitcher, Reporter Part Cummins, Sr. Representative Dianne Schwetzfeger, Jr. Representative Peggy Arterburn, Soph. The purpose of the lettermen's club is to support and initiate an interest in the athletic department of the school. It is our belief that we have successfully fulfilled this purpose for the school year 1965-1966. The Club has sponsored several fund-raising campaigns for the aid of the athletic department. These events were an annual chili supper and a hypnosis program. They also work at the junior high football and basketball games. An annual outing is sponsored each year by the Club. This is done in appreciation of the time and work that the members have given to the Club and to climax a successful year. OFFICERS President.......... Vice President . .
