M. Martin, our late superintendent of schools, whose ever-present goal, the education and character-building of Oklahoma’s youth, has become a living memorial to his life of dedicated service. We, the students of Medford High School, because we have felt his influence in our lives and know we are better persons for it, dedicate the 1964 Cardinal to Marion M. Martin, our friend and counselor. Office of tlje Superintendent uperttttencbnf’s iteaaage jHhfrfarb JlwMk J cfytmls ifleMorb, ©klalfoma TO: The students of Medford Schools Please accept this expression of appreciation to an excellent student body. This has been a most re- warding school year for me. Your spiritand cooperation along with the work of a dedicated and well trained staff has made this a pleasant school year. Good luck to you graduating seniors. May you always strive to represent your family, school, faith, community, and country in the highest possible manner. Graduates and undergraduates alike will find it essential to exercise a high degree of preparation and dedication in order to be successful in todays com- petitive society. There is great satisfaction in a difficult job well done. Regardless of your level of school preparation you should be looking ahead. Select a worth-while goal, select courses in school to improve your chances of reaching that goal, and learn to think. The world needs capable educated people more than any other period in the history of man. Prepare yourself well for a useful and productive life. I have enjoyed my experiences in Medford. I am anticipating continued pleasant and productive years as we all work together to improve our educational program in this community. Sincerely, 6 principal's Message Our school system has undergone many changes in curriculum and personnel since the last school term. It is always difficult to make adjustments to change and we appreciate the efforts of everyone to see the work go on. We feel that we have one of the finest group of students and patrons to be found anywhere. Our sincere desire is to operate a school system second to none and to give the Medford community the type education they need. Life is increasingly more technical and complicated. May I urge you to give serious thought to your preparation in both academics and character. Sincerely, HAROLD D. We, of the Cardinal Annual Staff who are about to depart as graduates of 1964 have become increasingly aware of the value of our motto. As our senior year draws to a close, we realize that we have truly ar- rived at the door of success and now must find the key, or drop into oblivion as that young man who does nothing. To the underclassmen, the future graduates of M.H.S., we leave our motto and the '64 Annual as a reminder that we, too, once roamed these halls as their class- mates. In future years this book will be a source of joy as it brings back into focus many of our friends who have long since gone their separate way. Each of you has a part in our annual and because of this, the Cardinal Annual Staff wishes to pay a special tribute to the students of Medford High School. YOU are the Annual and we wish to say, thanks. The F.T.A. in High School seeks to enable its members--to study and to identify the qualities, traits, and aptitudes which are basic or related to successful teaching; to acquire an understanding of the history and development of our public schools, their purposes and objectives, and an appreciation of the contributions they have made to our democratic, free society; and to secure accurate information on vocational opportunities in education, and the special competences required, to aid in self-evaluation. This year the F.T.A. co-sponsored the Teacher Appreciation Day which was a great success. The F.T.A. constructed and operated the Coat Check stand during basketball games. 39 JtHtng (ttlub Susan Barr Judy Hibier Karen Wilson Janice Sims Kathy Green 40 Cdtermen’s (Elub The purpose of the Letterman's Club is to support and initiate an interest in the athletic department of the school. It is our belief that we have successfully fulfilled this purpose for the school year 1963-64. We believe that the purpose of the Club may be better served by the purchase of better equipment. A part of this program included the purchasing of Cardinal warm-up jackets, for the football team. The Letterman's Club supported the filming of three of this year’s foot- ball games. The Club has sponsored several fund-raising campaigns for the aid of the athletic depart- ment. These events were an annual chili supper, a wrestling match, and a grade tournament. An annual outing is sponsored each year by the Club. This is done in appreciation of the time and work that the members have given to the Club and to climax a successful year.
