tEeacljer ($f '(Efye |ear Mr. McCoy was selected as Teacher of The Year for 1960-61. He represented Grant County on Teacher Recognition Day at the Oklahoma State Fair. He and his wife were guests of the Oklahoma City Chamber of Commerce. The Huckins Hotel provided a complimentary room. The Oklahoma City Chamber of Commerce had a special luncheon arranged for each recognized teacher, and his or her spouse, of the various counties. After the luncheon, all were honor guests at the State Fair during the afternoon. A Friendship Hour was enjoyed from 4:00 to 5:00 p. m. All of the teachers met at the 4-H Club Building Cafeteria and were guests at the Awards Dinner. During the dinner, each honor teacher was a- warded an individual trophy in recognition of the years of teaching service. The First National Bank of Oklahoma City gave each teacher and spouse a boutonniere and an orchid. The teachers were also guests of honor at the evening Grandstand Show. Previous to the Teacher Recognition Day at Oklahoma City, the faculty of the Medford School successfully planned a surprise party and dinner in honor of Mr. McCoy. Mr. Schuneman presented him a barometer as a gift from the faculty. Mr. McCoy reports that in both of these experiences everyone displayed sincere joy and hap- piness while taking part in the recognition. He says events like these cause one to feel appreciated and they give a feeling which word-' cannot describe.

Danny Yerian STUDENT COUNCIL--Mr. Schuneman, Robert Chermack, John Feist, Danny Yerian, Bobby Taylor, Glenneth Jones, Charles Heerman, Marilyn Tims, Glenda Reimer, Carolyn Green, and Mrs. Manela. STUDENT COUNCIL in ACTION Among the leading projects of the Student Council this year was the purchas- ing and erecting of the large football scoreboard. The Council was instrumental in buy- ing the Hi-Fidelity record player for the study hall. Tevevision sets have been ob- tained for the Presidential Inauguration and other outstanding programs. Glenda Reimer, Carolyn Green and Marilyn Tims were representatives to the National Student Council Convention at Weatherford, Oklahoma. The current project which the Coun- cil is working on now is the purchase of a Whirlpool Bath for the Athletic Department.
