Spark- ing the attack was lack Geary and the fleet- footed Dan Bova. Medford 19 Newton 12 Newton managed to match each of Med- ford's early scores. With scant minutes to go in the final period, however, Danny Bova on a screen pass carried the ball seventy-five yards for a touchdown and a thrilling victory. Medford 31 Arlington 0 Touchdowns by Bova, Bersacola, Fay, Sar- ni, and Mahoney and a conversion by Kurker accounted for Medford's 31 points. lack Geary was an essential factor in this seventh win. Medford 33 Chelsea 0 Medford again demonstrated their power by trampling a weaker Chelsea team by 33-O. This, the eighth straight win, made Medford a bowl bid and opened the way for the Class A Title with but one game yet to play. Medford 0 Malden 19 The second oldest Thanksgiving-Day Clas- sic about Greater Boston found the Golden Tornado with seven wins and one tie clashing against slightly favored Medford with eight consecutive wins. During the first half the two teams fought a scoreless battle. ln the second half Malden capitalized on a long scoring march to give them three touchdowns. This broke Medford from the undefeated-untied ranks. SUMMARY Coach lohn Prior and his assistants should be highly commended on their splendid work in turning out an outstanding team. The loss to traditional rival Malden was a bitter pill to swallow, but the coaches and players took it like good sportsmen. The Mustangs were a credit to Medford High School and a fine ex- ample for teams in the future. The co-captains selected for next season are Dick Fusco and Tommy English.
