CLASS PROPHECY I found myself in a space-ship one day, and as the ship began gaining altitude, my head began spinning. But as I gained altitude the Earth and the people on it became easier to see. Soon I began to recognize some of them. As my head stopped spinning, I could see Paul Wendt lying in the sun on the farm he now owns. He reallv looks happy soaking in the sun and watching his hired hands do all the work. Suddenly the ship jerked and the faces changed. I can see a ship now, the U.S.S. Leave Us Be and on the top deck giving commands are Duane Dickinson and Ray Conley. They have finally be- come Admirals. While l'm over the ocean, I'll use my special telescope and see what lies beneath the surface. Well for goodness sake! There's Nelson Coburn running a whole fleet of atomic submarines. Passing over New York City I see several members of the armed forces having a party on the roof garden of a famous hotel. Let's see now. . . that Air Force man looks like Art Coburn and the insignia on his shoulder says that he is the top mechanic in his outfit. That big Marine Sergeant strolling in is Les Jones. Just look at all those medals! Here comes a general and his adjutant. Why it's Bob l-lilton and Devon Scholz! The Army certainly was lucky to get those two. Steering a little to the south I see palm trees and a long sand beach with Doris Rosenberg stretch- ed out upon it sunning herself. She must be taking that week off from Cape Canaveral that she's been working so hard for. I think she runs one of those electric computers or something. A few miles later. I amjust passing over the terrace of a new Miami hotel and who do I see modeling a new Paris original? Why, it's Susie Allen, of course, one of the top models in the country -Q3. Setting my course for northwest l find that I',m right over my old home town of Medaryville. I've been informed of several new changes in the curriculum and faculty of 1965. Bill Reidy, of all people, is the new history and physical education teacher. Judith Stout, a graduate of In- diana State Teachers College, is the head of the commercial department. The school is really the swingingest now since Jim Biddle joined the faculty. He has a Ph.D. in Rock-n-Roll. In my flight path now is a big construction project. There seems to be an argument going on between the bosses, Ed Witt and John Shortz. They can't seem to decide who is going to get the first coffee break in the morning. A little farther down the line stand Ralph Tanner and Arnold Hartman. Arnold is in charge of all the road construction to and from the project. Ralph is the foreman who sees that everyone does their job. And just over the hill is Dan Neely who is heading a competitive project. I wonder who will get done first? I just noticed an airplane flying below me. I'll bet Joan Stout is the stewardess aboard it. I hear the passengers like her so well that the company is swamped with business. Oh here comes another plane! And guess who's on it? It's Jeanne Timmons, sitting behind a typewriter, on the President's Special. Believe it or not, Jeanne has finally become secretary to the President of the United States. Working with her in Washington, D.C. is Lucille Smith. Lucy runs the switchboard in the Capitol Building and handles all the confidential calls. The next person I see is Phil Byers. He's a graduate of Lincoln Bible Institute, and his PQI- ish is the biggest in the county. Time out for a coffee break and now I'm over Califomia. Ah, I see Donna Witt walking along Wilshire Boulevard in Hollywood. She works for a big movie producer and is quite a success as a secretary. Just a small distance away in Los Angeles live the former Misses Diane Ford and Lola Stout. Roy and Diane and their three children live just around the corner from Lola and Chuck. Lola finally got that convertible she wanted so badly only it's a convertible baby carriage that holds all of her four children at once. Just for the heck of it, I think I'll buzz U.C.L.A. Well who's this? I see? It's Professor Charles Harper, the head of the engineering department at the university. And there's his wife and two daughters -- all of them redheads. Right on the outskirts of the campus is a small quaint bar that caters to the fraternity broth- ers. The proprietor is our old friend, Eugene Hughes. On across the Pacific Ocean and to Africa my ship now takes me. Down in the jungles of French Equatorial Africa is a friendly little mission run by Carol Chesak and assisted in the med- ical department by Gladys Vlach, R.N. It looks like someone is visiting the girls. Why, it's Mary Miks, also an R.N.g however, she's the head of one of the best hospitals on the continent. The last place on Earth I have to fly over is Germany. And who am I going to find there? Mrs. Tom McCurry, of course, the former Marilyn McCool. Marilyn works for a big import- export firm and takes care of her home and family too. It's quite a job but she seems to be doing all right. Well that takes care of my tour of the Earth, so I'll be saying so long. I'rn on my way to the Moon now, but l hope to see you soon. -24- 'V 'N agus? XFX 4' ' ..M,. , . K .2- f, JN, ix -' 4 1 ' f .
