We, the Seniors, will to the faculty our books in hopes that they can paste them together to lasta HISTORY On September 4, l95l, seventeen freshmen enrolled at MHS: Ronald Black, Carol Ann Blair, Norma Bures, Dianne Burton, Jeanne Burton, Ivlarlene Christenson, Arlene Davis, Phyllis Druin, Rhoda Hollingsworth, Jeanette Lewison, Patty Long, George Lord, Duane Orr, Kenneth Orr, Ra- chel Tiahrt, Roger Tigert and Ronald Turner. We were initiated on September 14. During the se- cond semester we lost one member of the class, Arlene Davis. During our sophomore year we again had seventeen members, as Betty Wibben had transferred from Gayville. One of the memorable occasions of the year was the crowning of two members of our class, Jeanette Lewison and Ronald Turner, as king and queen of the school's annual carnival. The junior year of our class started with only fifteen members. Norma Bures, Marlene Chris- tensen, and Patty Long had dropped out and a new student, Jim Johnson, had enrolled. We pre- sented our first class play, Mrs. Sam from Roaring Darn, on October 2.7, 1953. By the time the Junior-Senior Banquet and Prom was held, May 18, Norma Bures had returned to the class and we numbered sixteen. Two old members of our class were missing as we started our senior year, and one new stu- dent had enrolled. Rachel Tiahrt moved to Oregon and Jeanne Burton was married to a former Meckling student and also moved away. Lavirl Haight filled one vacancy, making the total number of the class fifteen. The senior class play, Constable Jerry from Fulton's Ferry, was presented on March 4. On Ivhy 13 we were guests of the junior class at the Junior-Senior Banquet and Prom. Baccalaureate on May Z2 and Commencement on Iviay 24 drew the curtain on our high school days tightly closed, but our memories of those wonderful days will always remain. From the society colurnn of the Meckling Tim-es, we find these items: RHODA HOLLINGS- WORTH now runs the Hollingsworth Beauty Salon, which is a branch of the Liberace fan club. She also is singing in the Mecklingtropoliton opera company in her leisure time. DUANE ORR is Elec- trical Engineer at the l.C.U. studios in East Meckling. The youngest set of twins of Mr. and Mrs. Max Quick fnee BETTY WIBBENJ entered the Public Military Academy yesterday to prepare to make their mark in the world. ROGER TIGERT is manager of the mattress and pillow department at Mary An.n's Department Store. We find DIANNE BURTON became the blushing bride of a Texas oil millionaire. After tlfeir honeymoon in ll make their home at 2139 East Park Avenue in East Meckling. CAROL ANN BLAIR is also married and has 9 girls. They are the first players on the lvieckling Girls Baseball Team. They have won all their games. RONNIE BLACK is now owner of the Black Shoe Polish Manufacturing Company. He worked his way up from bottle filler. Here is something about another Mecklingite, JEANETTE LEWISON3 we find that she owns a chain of Black Angus ranches. Her hobby is getting them to pose for her art pictures. JIM JOHN- SON can now be seen in his latest picture, This Ole House, in which he sings the title song. LAVIRL HAIGHT and KENNY ORR have invented the car of all cars, the super-duper speed demon that goes around ALL corners on no wheels--it has no wheels.. NORMA BURES is mar- ried to one of her patients, whom she nursed back to health at the Meckling Veteran Hospital. PHYLLIS DRUIN has taken over the ownership of the Vermillion Tavern and has moved to cen- tral Meckling where there is more business. QVermillion is now one of the smaller suburbs of Meckling., GEORGE LORD is editor of the Meckling Times: he has an all girl staff. He says, and I quote, I sort of got used to the idea when I worked on the school paper with all girls. Unquote. 4' NATIONAL BANK OF S. DAK. CITIZENS BANK Vermillion Vermillion LOANS SAVINGS .
