GRADE SCHOOL CH ISTMAS BANQUET Tramp, tramp, tram --a run and a little jum --happy faces of the grade children of Meckling school as they filed to their separate rooms on Friday December 21. Anticipation ren high. Questions and discussions: Hwould everything be ready at 12 o'clock? What was the gym like this year? Did we do our part well enough?U Some were at home with flu and would be missed. Bbw pretty the Christmas trees in each room were!!! Three hours of practice, drills, and study and the cleaning of hands to get ready for dinner. Then came the welcome sound of the 12 o'c1ock bell. The march to the gym and the Ohsll as the gym door opened. There were stars over- head, tables decorated in red streamers with red and green candles, and nut cu s. Place cards were miniature Christmas trees, while the programs were hand decorated. Eagerly each found his place. All was complete as the group sang UA Mbrning Prayern, which was a prayer befitting the joyous spirit of Christmas time. When all were seated, the Freshmen girls served the banquet. The menu consisted of: mashed potatoes, creamed chicken in timbles, but- tered peas and carrots, radishet, celery, jello salad with cream,rolls butter, jelly, and milk. Dessert was ice cream and cake. The cake, which was a gift from the teachers, was beautifully decorated in Christmas colors. Everyone was ready for the program after they had finished their dinners. No room knew what the other rooms would present. The Rhy- thm Band of the First and Second Grade gave several selections. They were dressed in costumes. The third and Fourth Grades HBonnie's and Billy's Christmasv. Seventh and Eighth' Grade lang HGhristmas at SeaN and WStar of the Eastn. They also pantomined nBird's Christmas Carol! Then the Fifth and Sixth Grades rendered UThe Christmas Storyni Senta's bells were heard in the distance.d Closer and closer came the sound. Eyes popped and waited to catch a glimpse of that Hdcar old fcllown. He mode a speech and then presented an electric bridge lamp to Mrs. Bessie Dunbar. This was a gift from the teachers, high schools pupils and grade All then passed to room and distributed the enjoyed seeing the gifts children. their respective rooms. Santa came to each many gifts. The gifts were unwrapped and all of the others in the room. Games were played until dismissal bell rang. All wished their teachers and each other UMerry Christmesn and a Hhhppy New Yearu and went home tired but happy. OTHER GRADE ACTIVITIES During the year the grades have participated in various school activities. At the Carnival the grades took part in the program and also at the Art Exhibit. They furnished entertainment at several of the P.T.A. meetings.
