C. S. ck OO ’B OCL id On behalf of all those who consider themselves a part of this foundation, we, the 1971-72 Shield Staff, would like to take this opportunity to thank each of the board members. We know that much of their spare time and many sacrifices were spent in an effort to perfect the foundation’s system. Countless revisions have been made in order to assure the foundation’s survival. It should, however, be realized that full cooperation from everyone is needed in order to make yesterday’s dream a reality of tomorrow. A. R. Paul W. Cooper, Morris Hill Junior College; Wake Forest; BA, MA from Wake Forest. Although my connection with the Mecklenburg Academy has been comparatively brief, my experi- ences here have been pleasant and rewarding. The students, the teachers, parents, and Board of Direc- tors are among the finest people with whom 1 have ever been associated in a long career in the field of Education. If these groups continue their excellent work for the school, 1 am confident that through the years ahead, they will have no cause to regret but every reason to be proud for having done so. I wish for all of you continued success in a great and worthy undertaking. May all of you know that your contribution to this school, however great or small, will help in build- ing an institution where each student’s progress is limited only by his ability to achieve and not by the lack of opportunity to do so. This can be done only through the cooperation of all groups concerned. •8
