In their first game the Kniglits were overrun by Oxford four to ten. Follow- ing this game were two games with Fork Union the first being won by the Kniglrts four to zero with the second taken by Fork Union. Led by their tricaptains Danny Cannon, Curtis Algood, and Danny Bagbey the Kniglits were plagued by inexperience. Althougli Coach Hastings and the Kniglits had a fairly disappointing year, with the experience gained the team should be much stronger next year. 56

The 1969-70 Mecklenburg Academy Cheer- leaders were chosen by the faculty members after performing and taking a written test in basketball. They practiced with great enthusiasm in prepara- tion for basketball season. In addition to cheering they tried to promote school spirit by making banners and badges for the players. They were led by co-captains Faye Bulloch and Brenda Gurley. Their sponsor was Barry Hastings.
