E an Edwards Auto Mechanics II John Dunn Auto Mechanics II AUTO MECHANICS Auto Mechanics is a two-year program which trains students to repair and maintain many kinds of vehicles. Students learn to locate problems through diagnosis and perform the necessary repairs using modern equipment. This experience and instruction prepares students for entry level employment in the Auto Mechanics field. B.O.C.E.S. stands for the Board of Cooperative Educational Services. Created in 1948, it offers educational opportunities to area students. It's main objective is to provide an occupational education featuring “hands on experience in a specific field. Courses arc designed to provide entry level employment skills. However, this is not necessarily the end of their education. B.O.C.E.S. students arc not only able to get a good job. but they will also be able to continue their education if they choose. All credits earned may be applied towards completion of requirements for graduation. As a result, greater educational offerings, various number of services and low costs prove that B.O.C.E.S. can be an extremely beneficial aspect of high school education. B.O.C.E.S PLUMBING AND HEATING Students enrolled in this two-year program develop the skills necessary to assemble and repair pipe fix- tures and drainage systems according to plumbing code specifications. Students also learn to install sheet metal and trouble shoot all systems. Careers available with a plumbing and heating background include contractors, fucl-oil dealers, maintenance workers and a plumber's or pipefitter's helper. Some students go on to technical school, apprentice pro- grams or even the military. METS Mcts is a program designed for students who are unsure of the occupational field they would like to enter. It provides a balanced combination of many different programs. After a year in the Mcts course a student should be able to decide on a specific pro- gram. This is the first year that this program has been offered. It should be quite helpful. Cosmetology Students enrolled in this program learn salon management as well as the arts of styling and waving human hair. One in- teresting aspect of this program is that students receive “live” shop ex- perience. Unique Placement Students taking the Unique Place- ment program arc provided with alter- native means for meeting their goal. Once the goal is es- tablished. a place- ment site in the community is devel- oped. Machine Trades II Machine Trades Machine Trades provides instruction in the use of ma- chines and the mate- rials for assembling projects.
