Macianello; J Noero; M Thomas CUSTODIAL STAFF DEDICATION Mr Prosser, we dedicate our yearbook to you because of the qualities you possess which have made our four years at M.H.S. so enjoyable. When we first met you we saw you as a knowledgeable teacher, and over the years you have become a great friend to all. Now that you are principal, our respect for you has grown. Despite the great amount of work that you have to accomplish each day, you continue to contribute to the individual needs of all. For this unique quality, we are appreciative. Emmet Prosser Mr. Muth, we dedicate our yearbook to you because of your dedication to the whole student body. As this year began, you accepted many new responsibilities, but you continued to give your time and effort, both during and after school. Your talent and knowledge has prepared your stu- dents for the business world that awaits them. Because of your general concern for all students, not only those in your classes, we have come to respect you not only as a teacher but as a friend. II Robert Muth We, the Class of 1981, in closing the door on our many varied experiences at MHS during the last four years, remember making the trip to Montreal, winning the Class Day Field Events—the first class to do so, having our First-place tenth- grade class float fall apart on the football Field, writing our term papers, taking countless exams, meeting deadlines for the school newspaper, enjoying class picnics, attending the prom, and preparing for the graduation exercises. These things and many more we have shared together. But they are. now. a part of our past: our shared experiences have been some of the countless factors which have helped to shape us into the persons we are presently. As we pass through the doors of MHS for the last time, we express our appreciation for the support, guidance, and instruction given us by our parents, faculty, and friends. It is now time to open the door on the vast world outside the comfortable, secure comfines of MHS. This door to the future will lead to a world iff different varied experiences and different paths for us to follow. We have been together and we have gained strength in our unity. It is now time to carry that strength with us as individuals when we step into the world on our own. It is now time to begin to realize the goals we have established for ourselves. It is a time to grow and capture our dreams. l.iz Sgambati Editor-in-Chief MARK LEF ADAMS PATTY GENE ANDERSON MICHAEL AYOTTE MASON BATCHELDER LAl'RA ANN BREHM JOANNE BRI NSON JOHN A Bt RK KEVIN Bt RRFLLO 17 DONNA BUSSIERF KEITH BUTLER DENISE MARIE CANARY DOMINIC A CAR EL LI BARRY J CAROI.A ALGFR CHEVALIER CARMEN dCCARFLLI DAVID CLEMENTS JOANNE COCOZZO DAVID COMORSKI MAIRF.F.N A CONNORS SPAN M CONNORS MARC CORBETT MARY ROSE CORFNO PATRK IA M CORFNO JANET MARIE CORNELL 19 MELISSA ANN CRAFT HOLLY CURTIS DONNA MARIE DALEY SCOTT DECELLE DAVID M DELUCA ANITA L DEMARCO JOAN DEMARCO MARY KAY DIFUCCI KATHY FIACCO MICHAEL D FORD MARY A FORINO Sl’ZANNE FRYDEL JOANNE GAETANO RICHARD J HOPECK CATHY HOPPF.R JILL HORN HR STFPHANIF MARIF HI'BBS DANIEL J HI NT PETER J IANNIELLO ANNA MARIA IZZO JACKIE IZZO VIN( I N I A l.ANZONF TIMOTHY H LARKIN' MARY ANN l.l BARRON DIHRA ANNF ITBLANC SHARON MARII ITNIHAN CYNTHIA IT N NON MSA Rl BINO ITONARD MICH FI.IT A ITONARD JACQITT.INT M ITSCARBFAl TAMMY ANN LESSON STFVF LUCIANO CATHY MACDONALD MICHAEL J MAIF.LLO MARY ALICE MALONE DAVID MASTRIANNT THOMAS M MCBRIDE. This year's freshmen class began the year with their annual magazine drive with a goal of raising $3,500. They topped the goal by $200. and made $1,500. for the class treasury. Homeroom 110 had over $1,200. in sales, and the top three salesmen were Paul Rose, David Roes, and John Ra- jeski. John Anatriello won the porta- ble AM-FM stereo cassette player. In addition to the successful magazine drive, the freshmen conducted two snack bars—one during football sea- son and one during basketball season. A spirit of cooperativeness was achieved when freshmen worked to- gether on their float entry for the homecoming parade. M Row 1: M. Hollenbeck, J. Haney, J. Gargano. Row 2: D. DeFelice, L. Two pep rallies were conducted for the student body, and the Council sponsored and directed this year's homecoming activities which consisted of a bonfire and float parade. The Council was respon- sible for the annual Field Day class competitions and the Class Day activities which included the moving-up exercises and the Class Day dance. Snack bars were organized by the Council for var- ious classes and organizations, and two assemblies were scheduled through the efforts of the Council. Pennants and tokens were successfully sold to raise money for the Council, and the Council worked hard for senior privileges, a senior study hall, and free passage through the patio during warm weath- er. The mystery of the true identity of Lance Romance kept several students occupied: Jodi Almela wasn't even allowed to type the newsy” copy for fear she would recognize the penmanship1 Dave Zielnicki served as assistant editor and sports editor, and Jill Ponzillo, a freshman, served capably as activities editor. This year's reporters were John Anatriello, Jeri Gargano, Sandra Lucarelli, Dana DeChiro, Marty McBride, Jackie Izzo, Andy Sponable, Gayle Golden, Erin Carola. Because soccer is such a big event in Spain, members of the club traveled locally to watch a match. Using school facilities, the organiza- tion feasted on tacos after school and later incorporated them into their selling menu at a basketball game snack bar: the tacos were, obviously, a hit! A Christmas party was the joint efforts of the Spanish and French Clubs. Members of the club enjoyed the big end-of-the-year fiesta in June. Row ! J Almela, Secretary Row 2: B Gonnelly. During the month of November members of the French Club, under the direction of Mrs. Catherine Rog- ers, sold Advent Calendars. After- school cooking lessons provided stu- dents with mousse au chocolate and French chocolates, and a trip to Le Chateau at Granville, New York, pro- vided students with a memorable ex- perience in French dining. A De- cember snack bar kept the organiza- tion busy, and a Christmas party with members of the Spanish Club kept members happy. Cross-country skiing was February's activity, and a French film was enjoyed in March. The orga- nization ended its activities with a bake sale in April. 85 Row 1 M. Connors. D Roes. D Christopher, A. Most of the time spent is after school when the majority of M.H.S. students are free to pursue their own interests. The journalistic experience involved in Yearbook gives students a chance to express themselves creatively and de- mands more time than most classes. Certainly the experience is a unique one. The finished product is the accu- mulation of many talents and ideas and the effort of staff working to- gether is rewarding. Row I: Mrs. Lucille Bagnoli, N DiNallo. Row 2: M Falco. G. The ceremony, which was held on a Thursday night at the high school cafeteria, was conducted by Jackie Izzo who began the evening's program with a history of the ring ceremony and comments about the meaning and significance of the class ring. Each student's ring was presented either by the class adviser, Mrs. Pickett, or by a person of the student's choice. Many students opted for their parents to present them their rings. A social hour followed the ceremony. Jackie Ino, president of the junior class, telling the history of the ring ceremony at M.H.S.
