Willing to give of herself at all times to anyone who needs help, she is very concerned and involved with her students. For example, she supervised the successful 1975 Art Festival. Mrs. Conroy teaches us the importance of being individuals and gives us insight into areas other than school. The class of 1976 thanks you, Mrs. Conroy, for the inspirations you have given us. Mr. Slate is also a very successful teacher because he has a unique way of getting his point across, and he makes his students want to learn by arousing their interest. We will always remember his pet phrases such as, fudge it up and glucose, glucose, glucose . The most important value we learned from Mr. Slate was responsibility. If a student lacked responsibility when he entered Mr. Slate's class in September, that student was a more responsible person when he left in June. The class of 1976 is grateful, Mr. Slate, for the values you have given us. 3 The United States of America is celebrating, in 1976, its two- hundredth year as a free and independent nation. After waging a vigorous battle on the very grounds which lie in and around the city of Mechanicville, the thirteen colonies granted themselves the liberty for which they worked so hard by adopting the Declaration of Independence. In addition, it was decided that a democratic form of government would best insure for our people the principle of independence. For two hundred years, this democracy has survived. It must continue to survive. But it can only do so if we, the future leaders of this nation, accept the responsibilities which lie before us. Our four years at Mechanicville High School have served to prepare us for the duties we must undertake in the years to come. Each facet of our school life has, in its own way, given us the criteria necessary to act as dutiful citizens. It is our hope, as we commence our journey onward, that our productive years at M.H.S. will inspire us to continue to strive for the democracy which was handed down to us by our forefathers. 4 DONALD C.
