Forward Our city of Mechanicville has had a high school since 1914, but over the years changes have taken place in its physical structure. The first major renovation to the building, in 1925, expanded classroom space by the addition of two large wings. Now in 1955, another wing has been added to the rear of the building. This houses a modern gymnasium and several much needed classrooms. The older section of the building has been modernized to provide newer facilities for a better educational system for the youth of our area. Because of this extensive building program which we have lived through, we, the Class of 1955, have chosen Construction as our Yearbook theme. Now the seventh grade has been added to complete Junior High within our walls. In the following pages we shall try to illustrate the life of a Senior High student which includes I Oth, I Ith and 12th grades. The finishing touches have been added as we are about to graduate. It is our earnest hope and prayer that the classes to come after us will cherish the old school spirit, but will enjoy the new, modern facilities of our high school reconstructed. Dedication and Appreciation As the production of this Yearbook progresses, so too did the construction of the new addition to our school. This construction was made possible by the generous tax-payers of the city who agreed to an increase in taxes so that the teenagers of the area might have a more suitable place of study and recreation. The Board of Education also played a great part in further- ing the cause for this construction. Therefore, at this time, we, the Class of 1955, wish to express our deepest appreciation to the Board of Education, and dedicate this, the Halfmoon of 55” to the taxpayers of Mechanicville.
