28 HALFMOON YEARBOOK, 1943 Library (Hub In their tenth year of existence, the Library Club is carrying on their many activities—desk routine, book processing, room decoration, reference work, and book repair. Membership has increased since its initial year, 1933, from 7 to 70. This year the Library Club presented a silver vase to the L. B. Blakeman Library in memory of the late Airs. Mary M. Baker, Librarian. One of its most important activities for this year was helping to carry out the nation-wide Victory Book Campaign. The Seniors in this club are: D. Caughran M. Chauvin E. Sylvester D. Zapponc, Sec.-Treas. P. Conley, Pres. J. Mastrianni, V. Pres. B. Reilly R. Lupo D. I)e Carle A. Collins Student Council The Mechanieville Senior High Student Council was established in October 193o. It is sponsored this year by F. Way land Bailey and Earl ( . hitbeck. The Council lias one regular member and one alternate member from each home room. The Council became a member of the National Association of the Student Officers in November 1940. At meetings, the members discuss anti pass upon many activities and functions of the student body. Among its activities, the club has committees cooperating with the principal and faculty, which help to arrange assemblies. It. also elects the officers of the Athletic Association and sponsors the Service Club The Student Council representatives of each homeroom take charge of the sale of war stamps each week. It encourages and supports war stamp cam- paigns. The growth of the Senior High Council has been slow, but each year it takes on added functions and duties. K. Haddleton R. Holmes, Sec. D.
