Lucas W. Fisher I. Heiks Paul Of the board of directors for the borough of Mechanicsburg, two members are elected by the voters every two years. The seven members on the board are elected for a term of six years each, and in December the president and vice-president are elected to serve for one year. The secretary, with a term of four years, and the treasurer, with a term of one year, are elected in Iune. Several of their duties are to set the mill rate, hire teachers, handle the school district finances, and authorize repairs made in the school or new additions which are built. Our school board has as its members prominent citizens of the town. An e,xample of their able managing ability is the construction of the new shop building over which the present board had charge. Although many of the students may not realize what our directors do, they may be assured that they are affected directly by the actions taken by the school board. Ten
