We observe your enthusiasm for life, and we become aware of out own possibilities. Thank you for tolerating our errors and deficiencies and then, for allowing us to hope - for giving ': ffm.. gn us courage to learn and to seek the truth. We have recognized in you the charm, the wit - the qualities that make you human -- and that make us aspire. And so we take this page in dedication for inspiration. ADMIN ISTRATORS MR. SIMMER MR. PETERSON All human institutions are great or insignificant because of those who lead. The nation is great because of its leaders, the city is great because of its leaders, and the school is great because of its leaders. Our administrators Mr. Simmer and Mr. Peterson have been good leaders. Their wisdom in setting the mood of our culture, and their in- sistence in establishing the patterns of our future, tempered by their tolerance and patience, have molded our experience. And for this we are grateful. s Gilted memories of promos , . A senior trip . . . Ordering announcements and Being measured for caps and gowns Prologue to that clay Of the omega yet the alpha. Three senior players sustained injuries which ended their participation in varsity football at Mechanic Arts. However, these three, Frank Zambrano, jerry Cramer, and Ron Ransom, all performed in excellent fashion during their competition. On the brighter side, the M. A. eleven had many fine efforts culminating in a 3-4 conference record. The brilliant running of junior halfback Chris Gnetz and the fine line play of Chuck Kingswan, Mike Malinoff, Dick Domagala and Bruce Murphy gave balance to the backfield play of Rog Giese and the familiar Tom Sanft to Dave Wederath passing combination. Trainers Post 3-5 Conference Mark Under the direction of Mr. Schultz, the Trainer hoopsters compiled a record of three victories and five defeats in loop play after facing the problem of replacing four of last year's starters. Outstanding performer Alvin Green, only returning ace of last season's District 15 champions, sparked the deliberate actioned M. A. squad with a brilliant offensive display and fine floor game. Juniors Tom Rud- quist, and Del Mitchell and senior Bruce Price performed well in their first season of varsity basketball and sophomore for- ward Lee Williain gained experience and polish. However, the Trainer icemen skated hard in drop- ping some close games, including a 1-0 loss to Humboldt, Region 4 semi-finalist. The M.A. sextet hustled to a 2-2 tie with Hard- ing and were tied by a scrappy Wlilson team 2-2 after the Trainers had held the lead. Bright spots in this year's hockey picture were the line of john Brodrick, Bill Braeker, and Frank Matschina, which led the Trainers in scoring, and junior defensemen Tom Sanft and Dave Swenson. The 1961 Royal Homecoming festivities began with a regal assembly during which our handsome king Steve Bauer and our lovely queen, jean Wfirl were cere- moniously crowned by jack Horner, a well-known sports announcer. Following the coronation our royalty took part in a parade of decorated cars filled with enthusi- astic students. After an evening football game, which began with our foe, Central, making a touchdown on the first kickoff, a royal ball was held honoring the king and queen. Enhancing the atmosphere, was a beautifully decorated gym in which we danced to the lively music of the Night Beats. Though defeated, high spirits pre- vailed throughout the ball. ,At Eiga: ,H-Q A ef Q...w 4: 5 H 5 51 ' i ?
