Cabinet Counsels Students, Teachers Mrs. Catherine Scanlan was born in Blakely, Minnesota. She gradu- ated from Norwood-Young Amer- ica High School. Her B.A. degree was received at the College of St. Catherines and her M.A. degree at the University of Minnesota. She was a teacher of English and Speech at Maple Lake, Morris, and Chaska, Minnesota. After being principal of Maple Lake High School, she be- came a Counselor at Murray and Roosevelt High before coming to Mechanics in 1931. Mr. Stephen Sweetland is one of the new members of Mechanic Arts. He attend- ed North High School in Wichita, Kansas, and received his B.A. degree at Macalester College. Mr. Sweetland did graduate work at the University of Minnesota. He served in the Army Air Force and was for three years an Industrial Personnel Worker. For the past three years he has been a Voca- tional Counselor but we have not been lucky enough to have him with us all of the time. Mr. Ray Peterson is from a family of nine children. He graduated from Wash- ington High School where he played foot- ball and basketball. His B.A. degree was received at Macalester College. A few years later he received his M.A. degree at the University of Minnesota and has almost completed all of the courses necessary for a Ph.D. degree. Mr. Peterson was a teacher of English and Math for twelve years and in 1949 he came to Mechanics as Counselor and Ath- letic Director.
