SOCIAL AND SOCIETY NEWS Under the direction of Mrs. Mendenhall, the school gave the Christmas program for the Parent Teachers Club at the December meeting. Songs: Songs! Cantata A play, Song: The program was as follows: Jolly Old St. Nicholas by Beverley Myers Winter Wonderland by Mary Catherine LaPreeS, Peggy Walters, and Elizabeth Haughee Peggy Staggs at the piano. Star Of The East by Patty Hoke, and Wanda and Marie Cunningham. Chorus In The Skies by the Girls Chorus grades 8, 9, and 10. White Christmas Girls Chorus Santa Claus is Corning To Town Girls-grade 6. Santa's Last Stop, by the seventh grade. All Aboard for Santa Claus by the seventh grade. Betty Toney and Warren Eubanks were elected king and queen of Mecca High School for 1946-47. Rosemary Murphy, Norma Jean LaPrees, and Sonia Hodge visited Joan Murphy, and Sue Maurey at the Indiana State Teachers College. They attended the Campus Review. Sonia Hodge, who has been a member of this school for ten and one half years, has now moved to Florida. There were two fall carnivals this year, one spon- sored by the P.T.C. and the other by the school. The Senior class nominated Rosemary Murphy, Mary Jane Nowling, and Betty Toney to take a test given by the Daughters of American Revolution. Out of the three the faculty chose Mary Jane to represent Mecca High School. The Senior class attended the State Legislature, broad- casting station, and the Indianapolis News Plant the twelfth of February.
