In such an age it is not enough to glimpse the changing panorama of the world. Instead, it must be captured by television, as it records the sights and sounds of the universe. In these pages, therefore, your annual staff has not only tried to help you See It NoW g but it has also tried to be The Eyes and Ears of your school year, so that even in that Space Age of tomorrow, you will recall, This is as it was. 'I Was There'! DEDIUATIU For your humor we enjoy, For your scholarship we respect, For your sportsmanship we admire, And for your friendship we cherish, MR. GEORGE G. MMARY 0F MEBA E' GAME Mebane 33 Gibsonville O A not too highly rated Mebane Tiger team took the field in Gibsonville with the Mebane fans expecting just an average season. These thoughts were soon dissipated as Mebane scored with five touchdowns. Sharing in the touchdowns were Tommy Amick, Jimmy Copeland, Danny Carver, and Jack Evans. Mebane 33 Madison-Mayodan O Another 33-O win, featuring some fancy Mebane running, netted the Tigers with victory num- ber two in the young season. Tommy Amick, showing power and hard running, credited himself with three touchdowns, as the Tiger line again showed its prowess on the gridiron. The line consisted of Gene Allen, Marvin Collins, Jerry Kerley, Harold Thornton, and Morrie Turner. Mebane 45 Yanceyville O The Mebane Tigers came to Yanceyville with two things in mind: to win, and to show this wasn't the beginning of the end. And win they did! From the opening kick-off, it was Mebane allthe way, with Tommy Amick galloping 80 yards to make the first of his four touch- downs for the night. The Tiger defensive unit played an outstanding game, holding Yanceyville to a net gain of 85 yards. ' A Mebane 26 Walnut Cove 0 The Mebane Tigers didn't have to pull many strings to win its fourth straight victory. After the first two touchdowns, which came early, the Tiger first unit warmed the benches, as the reserves played the remainder of the game. Mebane 33 Altamahaw Ossipee 0 Jimmy Copeland really came into the limelight, as the Tiger fullback led the Mebane Express to its fifth straightvictory. Scoring three touchdowns, Copeland also led the defensive charge. 57 Mebane 7 Haw River 6 Next on the agenda for the Mebane Tigers was to play a tough Haw River team for the Mid-State Championship. After a defensive battle in the first three quarters,Ronny Poteat recovered a Haw River fumble on their 26 yard line. The Tigers then ripped through the Indians in three plays for a touchdown. Mebane 19 Glenn 12 In this game Jimmy Copeland pulled the pres- sure play. With 6 1X2 minutes remaining in the game, the Mebane fullback rambled 39 yards to give Mebane its winning margin in its eighth victory. Mebane 19 Allen Jay 20 The Tigers rolled into Greensboro ready for the state playoffs. Although they were leading with a score of 19-14 at half time, Allen Jay soon took the lead with a 20-19 score. This lead, in spite of all defensive threats by Mebane, was the final score of the play -off game. Mebane 0 Bethel Hill 0 A big Tiger letdown netted them their first tie in the Mid-State Conference. Hampered by injuries, the Tigersjust couldn't get rolling. One play which might have won the game for Mebane was nullified when Danny Carver caught a Steve York pass in the end zone but was ruled out of bounds. Mebane 19 Southern 0 The Tiger forward wall, playing a good defensive game against Southern Alamance, set up the first touchdown. Danny Carver set up the second one with a pass interception. Tommy Amick finished the touchdown with a 20 yard run in the 4th quarter. ...O 1- Mebane 14 Siler City 0 Mebane's Tigers ended their regular season with a victory over Siler City. Jimmy Copeland scored both touchdowns in the first and second quarters and Tommy Amick kicked both P.A.T.'s. The Mebane defense was praised as they played an outstanding game.
