LANGUAGE The Language Department is divided into three sections: English, French, and Latin. The purpose of this department is to develop the student's communication and reading skills through the study of lan- guage and literature. Four years of English are required of every student, as well as two years pre- ceding high school, for graduation. Two years of French and two years of Latin are available to college preparatory stu- dents. Ronnie Oakley and George Braxton, senior French stu- dents, display visual material which made class more in- teresting. Individual projects in French give the student an opportunity to learn the art and culture of France. Larry Sykes, a junior, demonstrates his model of the guillotine. The sophomore Latin class is making derivative trees. 30
