67055 Fics Of Che Qufure CLASS PROPHECY It's the year 1965, and the graduating class of 1955 has boarded a train to Washington for a class reunion. They spend hours exploring the train, asking questions, and congregating in the club car to gossip. Here are the notes taken by the old class secretary, Libby Atkins: Three girls from the class are teaching school--Jean Nichols, the third grade, JoAnn Yancey, home economicsg and Esther Payne, physical education fher girls just won another championshipl. After brief military services, James Workman and Woodrow Wilkerson started farming and are raising that old nicotine weed. On our color television sets,Fred Carter has been seen as the star of the Washington Redskins. JoAnn McAdams, Libby Atkins, Billie Jean Smith, Rosalie Shields, Bar- bara Neville, and Hilda Faucette have opened Mebane's first college, Better Sec- retaries Business School. Ellen Turner is working at the Methodist Church as secretary to the Min- ister, Tommy Loftis. Thege girls, Phyllis Hawkins, Pat Garrett, Mary Ellen Lewis, and Mary Ellen Atkins have become bridge fiends as an escape from the labors of child care. The class of '55 also produced two brush pushers g Kae Nelson, a com- mercial artist, and Ray Jenkins, a house painter. Elbert Garner, Benny Murphy, William Mclaaurin, and Richard Patterson are now general superintendents in Jack Keasler's textile mill down in South Carolina--he finally made it back home. Recently opened was The Business Bureau , managed by Bill Wilkinson and Bobby Riggs. The office is kept cheerful throughout the day by the bundle of joy , Rose Marie Thornton. Employed by the state, Bobby Jones was found to be a forester and Norma Kay Shoe, a trouble shooter for the S. B. l. Shirley Andrews and Betty Jean Sykes, ticket girls at the Bijou Theatre, have for their manager Bobby Scarlett. John Lynchis a psycho-analyst in the Navy, and has been to Europe to see the Louvre. Someone had seen a huge pasture with a number of dairy cows. The mail- box in the corner read Mr. and Mrs. Sammy Wilson. Could the Mrs. be Anne Strickland 7 Larry Wilkinson owns a furniture factory and is manufacturing the fur- niture which Charlotte Thomas designs. Uncle Sam'5 recruiting officer in the Mebane area is Patsy Brown. Mebane also has quite a few merchants from the class--Marshall Southern runs a feed mill, James Andrews,a drug store, and Phil Smith and Howard Lee are partners in a supermarket. Ophelia Holt and Helen Langley are operating a beauty shop. Randy's Record Shop, previously heard over station WCKY, has been re' placed by Freddie Jobe and the Cook's Store Boys. Though we were worried a little about Marcille Van Liere when she couldn 't decide on a career for herself, she at last has become North Carolina's first woman Senator. Bryan Holt and Bobby Rice now are pilots for Eastern Airlines with Re- becca Patterson and Janet Morris for their efficient stewardesses. Cleo Graves was found assisting Mebane's number one dentist, Dr. Cau- dell Clark. Yes, these are the notes taken in 1965 . . . what will they be in 19757'
