Listen to this article from Kaye's Kolumn inWDhe Heraldn. There's one girl who rose to fame quickly. Pat Hurley is entertaining royalty. The Countess of Varsovinovich formerly, Arlis Roberts, is spending the weekend at Miss Hurley's palatial New York estate. Also present are the ac- ademy Award Winners, Gloria Sauve and Maurice Hitchcock. Detective L.Stiffler of the New York Police is guarding Miss Sauve's jewels.n nYou know, Jo, that article about Pat Hurley makes me wonder about Mikey Foster.u nOh1 Her? She's the latest torch singer at nocambo's and her newest flame is Bob Legato. He and Vernon Dobler are co-owners of Hocambo's now. I heard that Jim McCaffrey is writing all of her latest songs. Don't you know any gossip?n nYes, I know that Helen Clayton is starting a new hos- pital, and Wanza Brown is resident physician. It's for ner- vous breakdowns and her first patients are Milly Dobler, voted the World's Best Patient, Bonnie Tisher, leader of the All-Girl Orchestra, Merle Sharp and Charles Kohlhepp, who are fast replacing Frankie and Ping, and Norma Schomoker, world reknowned traveler.n UUell, I can understand why they would have breakdowns. I'm surprised that Harlan Stutesman hasn't had one with that collection of old cars.n nSay, I heard he sold a hot rod to George Roberts, and it fell apart on Holly-wood and Vine. That couldn't have been so bad because the dazzling dancer, Kit Hinkle, pulled him out of. the junkpile. I wonder if she'll drop multmil- lionaire Brenna for George?n Anything can happen these days. Look at Dot and Gene. After ten years she deserted him for the lead in Darold Ichelen's Pulitzer Prize winning'play, HOur Wings Arc Still Uncertainn. nl heard the reason was Gene spent more time tinkering with his new,jet-propelled car put out by Redenbaugh Actors than with Dot.n UBy the way, Sloe, Kayo Potter and Slugger Hibbs have a bout tonight. They're still battling for the featherweight- championship. Johnny Stewart is broadcasting the fight. Shall we listen in?H nAfter all, Jo, this is their sixteenth bout, so let's go downtown and see that dance team composed of'Francis Jones Lutricia Brown, and Claudine Glenn. Donna Harmic, the famous critic, says they are sensational.n HYes, and after the show let's no over to Hoin's ferri- ible Heap anq have one OL her hamburgers -nde Q Ldne Nic ey She's quite famous for tren. A 1arge,gold foot- ball centered the attention of those present to the individual pictures of each member of the team. The high point of the evening was the presentation of awards to Howard Menees, honorary captain, and Mike Speyer, winner of the inspirational award. Soft lights and good music helped to make the evening en- joyable. The annual production nCarnival Capersn was presented May 1 and 2 with approximately 250 students participating. Among the featured acts were freaks of the sideshow, in- cluding a bearded lady, a human skeleton, and a lion tamer. The roller skating frolic was a merry-go-round scene followed by a jitterbug dance andnSweetstuffN interlude based on Tchaikowsky's HNutcracker Suite.N The school band, under Mr. Charles Bradford's direction, played throughout the entire performance. The various acts were under the direction of individual teachers and the student chairmen. Silver stars, a rising moon, and a blue sky casting its light on rose-covered lattices was the setting for the junior- senior prom, nMoonlight and Roses.n The main event of the evening was the crowning of one of the loveliest lasses of the senior class asnQueen of the Prom.n She was seated on a throne placed under a bower of roses, and after the ceremony, she reigned for the rest of the evening. A short program was given at intermission, and punch was served throughout the dance. Student chairman of the affair was Louise Pyles with Mrs. Verne Reierson as faculty advisor. The graduating class of 1947 held the first senior ball ever to be sponsored at Ogden Meadows High School. The dance was a formal affair and was held in the high school auditorium on the night of June 5, from 10:00 P.M. to l:OOA.M. following the graduation commencement exercises. Only seniors and their dates and guests were admitted to the dance. Seniors served on the com lttees for the decorations, tickets, and entertainment. 0 R 53 WJ Y,-Z' sammy drawwam SEPTEMBER 4--School starts.
