The l98l girls swim team finished with 4 wins and 7 losses, the best in three years. They finished well despite tough competition from faster opponents. The strong point for the team was an over all balance of swimmers led by Julie Weolz, Tamera Hogg, Wendy Benson and Captain Debbie Walters. Compared with previous years. Coach Martin rat- ed the I 981 swimmers, slightly better as a team . .lulie Woelz qualified for the state meet. the only Chief swimmer to do so. She placed sixth in state in the l00 freestyle. She also qualified for the Nationals, held in Tex- as, in the spring of I 982. 5 4 I. Coach Martin intently watches his team prepare for another meet. 2. Candi Ware starts another day of turnout. 3. Meadowdale Industrial Woodworkers: How Much Wood Can A Woodchuck Chisel Within Meadowdale 's lntra-District Industrial Woodwork- ing class, are many students from M. H. S. and the other four high schools. These students are preparing for futures in the woodworking business. l.ed by advisor, Jere Cary. the club is involved with consumer contracts for wood projects. The group produces Rotary House cabinets, trivets for Cas- cade Tile, seats for Lynnwood Roll-A-Way and various small items for other consumers. The woodworkers are participating in the Vocational Industrial Club of America TVICAQ. The club 's officers are. President, Bob Ptacek, Vice Presi- dent, Dan Wilson, Secretary, Steve Wisnewski, Treasurer, DJ. Floyd. The Parlimentarian is Joe Blakely and the Re- porter is Mike Holeman. Most of the club 's sales are for projects ordered by consumers. ln the latter part of the school year, the club sets up a booth at the Alderwood Mall and sells many products. I. Tim and Alan put Hnal touches on their wood projects. 2. Professor Harrison checks the corners for rough edges. 3. operates a complicated piece of Machinery. 4. Eric Carlson builds a product, while D. J. Floyd watches intently.
