H.E.R.O. comes to the rescue Every Friday during fourth period, twenty students gath- er for the weekly meeting of the Home Economics and Related Occupations QHEROJ Club. Members of HERO, a chapter of the Future Homemakers of America QFHAQ, learn child care and responsibility while working to pro- mote family unity and interest, in home economics. Em- phasis is placed on greater understanding between youth and adults, awareness ofthe roles of men and women in today's society, and democracy and world brotherhood. Leading HERO in the 1980-81 school year are President Dave Hoff, Vice-President Lisa Koontz, Secretary Tawny Leech, Treasurer Aimee Wendlandt, Parliamentarian Darla Hudson, and Reporter Lynai Blodgett, together with their Adviser, Mrs. Gestaut. Members participated in activities including a cara- melled apple sale, and regional and state FHA meetings. Life isn't always easy for the new class on the block, but this years' sopho- mores, the Class of '83, marched right into MHS bright and early September 4th and settled down comfortably. And they're here to stay! Although christened the Airheads by the Goo- bers of '81, the sophomores have shown life, energy, and determination from the very start, under the leader- ship of President: Don Brady, Vice- President: Lisa Palmer, Secretary: Cathy Williams, and Treasurer: Kristi Trana. The Airheads are a large class including scholastic achievers, prom- ising athletes, and memorable indivi- duals, and appear well equipped to travel the long and narrow road to graduation with style! and
