Airheads rise Every student at MHS knows what the Opening Day Assembly means for the new sophomores, it is the mo- ment of revelation, when the all-powerful seniors bes- tow upon them a name that will follow them through their three-year career at Meadowdale. The assembly, now a much anticipated tradition, was hosted this year by seniors Dick Burton and Shelly Streick. Included were fine performance by the Impressions and the Stage Band, and skits by representatives of FHA, DECA, the junior class, and finally, the infamous seniors. The audi- ence was on the edge of their seats when finally it was declared that the class of '83 are officially, permantly, and beyond a doubt, Airheads. 1. Chiefs' Homecomin blasts Ro all School spirit ran high during Homecoming week as sen iors, juniors, and sophomores alike eagerly took part in activities and competitions. Counselors' offices were transformed by decoration committees, and the ath letes' lockers were decorated by guardian angels. The cheerleaders' hard work contributed greatly to the school pride, class pride, and good cheer all through the week. Friday, the culmination of all the competitions involved in the week began with the assembly which featured skits by the classes, returning cheerleaders, and the spirit keg competition. Later Friday night, after the cross-country team formed an M on the field with flares before a darkened grandstand full of enthusiastic students and alumni, our Chiefs were victorious over the Lynnwood Royals in an exciting football game.
