Booters repeat state ratin Once again the Meadowdale Boys Soccer Team started the season playing state-caliber ball. With much of the 1980 squad returning, the team had a great head start on developing a skillful team. Win after win was achieved by the Chiefs early in the season including an exciting victory over the Lynnwood Royals. This game put them up from the rating of 6th in the state to Sth. The booters offense was powered by such players as Striker 1 Chris Wirtz and Sophomore midfielder Rick Blubaugh. Sweeper, jim Satterlee played key positions both on offense and defense. jim is also the team captain. junior goalies Glenn landro and jeff Carr provided tough defense. 1. Exchange student Alvaro Brito Rezende, shows off his Brazilian soc- cer skills. 2. As Terrace shies away, Rick Blubaugh explodes through the line, heading a high lob. 3. Difficult ball control is maneuvered by Doug Edwards. 4. Goalie Glenn landro gets another heart-stopping save. With a strong junior varsity and many returning players, the Chiefs will have high quality play next year. Among hard practices and exciting matches a very talented person appeared: Sophomore Gary Casper. He was the first Sophomore in the history of the team that had ever succeeded so well on the team. The very well-rounded team, led by Seniors Dave Dreher, Greg Fritzberg, Sterling Sankey, Tom Catey, and Brian Beeston, showed talent in both the doubles and the singles matches. juniors Tom lesewski and Bob Ledford, along with sophomore Doug Dreher, provided strong play. As a powerful team in WESCO, the Chiefs look forward to another winning season. 1. Tom Catey delivers a smashing backhand shot. 2. Coach Mike Hilton gives some sound advice to promising athlete loe Gezundersplatt. 3. Greg Fritzberg stays snug and warm between sets. 4. Dave Dreher dooms his op- ponent with a deadly serve. 5.
