DEBATERS COLLECT WINS. Guided by Mr. King, the debate squad rose over inexperi- ence to place high in tournaments. The team debated about foreign aid, collecting cards of information about the subject in recipe boxes. Through debate, students learned to speak with assurance in public. MARION KOLUDA With an inexperienced and small staff, the bi-monthly Chieftain labored to be a paper with quality writing and current news. Each issue improved as the Chieftain staff learned from their mistakes and gained experi- ence. The Chieftain emerged as a polished publication accurately reporting the views and activities of Meadowdale High School.

q a OPTIMUS LED UPWARD National Honor Society Optimus, Meadowdale’s academic honorary, recognizes those students who have reached for and maintained high scholastic standards. The number of members climbs higher every year. At the traditional December initiation, seventy new members were Officially accepted. These were students who had maintained at least a 3.0 cumulative grade point av- erage.
