WINTER FASCINATION IS A SUCCESS Couples danced gaily and triumphantly among the deco- rated fir trees at the Junior Prom, Winter Fascination. This successful dance was the result of weeks of organization, | but this alone was not the reason for the atmosphere of triumph. The Junior Class set a precedent and created a tra- dition at Meadowdale. Despite dissent and controversy, the Junior Class successfully presented its case for a prom. With unlimited cooperation from their advisors, the Juniors showed Meadowdale that they could function effectively as a class. The Junior Prom was more than a dance; it was set by the Junior Class as a goal and it was one they had the courage to reach for.

30YS’ CLUBS INSPIRE HIGHER GOALS On many Friday nights, boys could be seen hurrying among the fans frantically stuffing popcorn into sacks and grabbing lukewarm hotdogs from the oven. During the football and basketball season, Boys Club, alternating with Girls Club, worked in the concession stands to raise funds. Usually these hardworking members came from the Active Boys Club, a group of about fifty, who were especially inter- ested in the activities and purposes of the club. Along with the advisors, Mr. Lee and Mr. Weaver, the officers, Lanny Hansen, Dan Brecht, Mark Steinberger, and Randy Mickels, supervised the growing collec- tion of money intended for a new trophy case for Meadowdale. The reader board, last year’s Boys Club project, was kept constantly up-to-date with lively remind- ers of school events. Because of their vig- or and acceptance of responsibility, Boys Club overcame difficulties and made 1966-67 a year of growing achievement. Officers: Mark Steinberger, Secretary; Dan Brecht, Vice President; Lanny Hansen, President; Randy Mickels, Sergeant-at-arms. Sergeant-at-Arms Randy Mickels and President Lanny Hansen discuss plans for an approaching e- vent sponsored by the Active Boys Club. iD

— Minin PLL PIE, Covered with red paper hearts, the sweet- heart tree stood in the center of a small pink forest. From the transformed stage, couples seated at tables looked down on the crowd- ed dance floor as they enjoyed their refresh- ments. In a small clearing of pink trees on a circular bandstand, the Ken Cloud Orchestra played familiar old dance tunes. Couples walked over a small, white bridge as they entered. Others talked quietly in the shadow of the sweetheart tree. This memorable evening was conceived and produced by Girls’ Club. The Tolo has been and always will be an effort on the part of the Meadow- dale Girls’ Club to provide Meadowdale with a tradition of excellence. MEMORIES BLOSSOM ON THE SWEETHEART TREE
