CHIEFS TIE The Chiefs, with a relatively small and inexpe- rienced football team, found the Western Con- ference competition keen and the opponents big. The boys played hard and worked well to- gether as a team. Winning an exciting game in which fine defensive play stopped the Terrace Hawks from scoring the winning touchdown, the Chiefs gathered momentum. They went on to win the Homecoming game with the Cascade Bruins. Bruce, Farley completed a pass to Greg Anabel for a Chief touchdown early in the game. Again the Chiefs scored with an inspired defen- sive play, a safety. Meadowdale was well repre- sented by a tireless group of boys who had the desire to play football.

Cross Country. Football. Wrestling. Basketball. Baseball. Tennis. Track. All sports are represented in Varsity Club, a collection of Meadowdale’s better athletes. To join Varsity Club, a boy must have earned a letter in a particular sport and remain active in that sport. Led by President Greg Ana- bel, Varsity Club staged a successful car raffle in the fall. One hundred dollars of the proceeds were designated for a scholarship fund. The rest of the money bought five-foot pennants which were given to each school and two cham- pionship pennants. When not participating in a sport, Varsi- ty Club members support MHS by being ushers at games and running the concession stand. In addition, Varsity Club has purchased weights for the athletic department. Mr. Pat Eason Advisor ELS UPWARD Varsity Club boys perform task of rolling up rug after basketball game. ‘ Greg Anabel, Bud Baxter, George Heyworth, Ron Dolan, and John Moyes push in bleachers after game. 103 | | |
