Stars hanging from the ceiling and a giant football resting beside the traditional blue throne created the sentimental atmosphere of the ol’ ’66 Homecoming Dance This was anight held in honor of Mea- dowdale’s graduates of 1966. In spite of the driving rain, many Chiefs came to the bonfire pep rally before the game with Cascade. Af- ter the bonfire the carvans wound its way noisily to the Ed- monds stadium where the Chiefs rose up to defeat the Bruins 9-0. At the dance after the game the Chiefs waited anxiously as the Homecom- ing Queen and her court were an- nounced. Cross Country. Football. Wrestling. Basketball. Baseball. Tennis. Track. All sports are represented in Varsity Club, a collection of Meadowdale’s better athletes. To join Varsity Club, a boy must have earned a letter in a particular sport and remain active in that sport. Led by President Greg Ana- bel, Varsity Club staged a successful car raffle in the fall. One hundred dollars of the proceeds were designated for a scholarship fund. The rest of the money bought five-foot pennants which were given to each school and two cham- pionship pennants. When not participating in a sport, Varsi- ty Club members support MHS by being ushers at games and running the concession stand. In addition, Varsity Club has purchased weights for the athletic department.
