The 1965-66 Meadowdale High School basketball team, coached by Mr. Phil Hull, made a good showing in one of the toughest leagues in the state. The team often made a better showing than their 7-13 record indicated. After trouncing Lake Washington 50-39, the Chief basketballers went into a slump, dropping five straight. The Christmas season was good to the Chiefs. Leading off with a 76-64 victory over visiting Sedro Wooley, the Chiefs traveled to Edmonds, capturing the Holiday Tournament cham- pionship. The New Year saw the Chiefs defeating Terrace 57-41. Dropping three close ones to Seattle Prep, Cascade, and arch rival Edmonds, the Chiefs bounced back to knock off Bel- lingham on the home boards. The Chiefs then faced Everett in one of the best games of the season, staying with the Western Confer- ence champs nearly all the way before falling 77-66. After a close loss to Blanchet, the Chiefs beat Terrace in a hair-raising 55-47 game. After losing a hard fought game with Bellingham, the Chiefs fell before the Edmonds Tigers in a seesaw battle, and then dropped a close one to Cascade to end the season.
